Does anyone have any ideas if I need to change some setting or other to enable IE to display encripted pages?

My PC has been poorly since before Christmas and came back from repair last weekend with a new Power unit, motherboard and RAM. I did a few things (updates etc.) to it before I discovered the encryption problem, so I've now carried out a system restore to the time when I brought it home - but I still have the same problem.

Any ideas? :confused3

It might be under 'Tools', 'Internet Options', 'Advanced', hope you fix it!

Thanks, I've tried lots of different check boxes there but, so far, no good :(

Hilary,

Under 'Tools', 'Internet Options', 'Advanced' go to the 'Security' section and make sure 'Do not save encrypted pages to disk is NOT ticked and 'Use SSL 2.0' and 'Use SSL 3.0' ARE ticked.

Thanks - these are just as you said, but it doesn't work :(

I don't like to speak too soon .. but I think I've FINALLY cracked it!

It was down to a conflict between an anti-virus installation (AVG(?)) that my PC repair guy had installed (without my asking him to  ) and an old version of Norton Security that was lingering in there somewhere after I'd tried to uninstall it to allow AVG to run. I've removed AVG and re-installed an up-to-date version of Norton and (touching wood frantically!), it seems to be working okay again. I've spent the past week fiddling with every setting I could think of to try to sort it out, but nothing made any difference, and I've been getting more and more frustrated and resigned to never getting it back the way it was.

It's so good to have my desktop back in some kind of working order after about six weeks without it :). Fingers crossed it stays this way!

Thanks for the suggestions anyway :)

Using two anti-virus or firewalls often conflict, causing problems. Glad its fixed (We hope) :rotfl:

Have fun :goodvibes
