Do not know to much about Universal! Have always stayed on Disney property for inclusive Disney vacation. I know that the overwhelming advice is to stay a few days at a Universal resort to really enjoy the parks. We are not interested in Hard Rock at all. We have one DS(will be 8 at the time of trip). We want to stay Friday-Sunday. Which is the most kid friendly hotel(activities, pool area, restaurant selection)? Where can I get the best price for one of the resorts(website, AAA)?

There are lots of kid activities going on at both of those hotels. For best price, call Loews Hotels and ask them for the best deals including AAA.

We have stayed at both and my kids prefer RPR hands-down. It is not as "refined" and the prices are cheaper. You can also walk to the parks but at PBH the walk is a bit long. I couldn't wait to stay at PBH and we came back from our first stay there just a few days ago. I think I may prefer RPR as well for the same reasons but the ambience at PBH is really nice as well. Not much help am I?:rotfl:

Another question regarding tickets: If we buy a 2 day pass and stay at RPR, (check out on Sunday as example) do we still receive the perks of the "express line" for that day? Thanks for the responses!

Yes. As long as you don't turn in your room key you can still have FOTL access for the entire day. This is what I read on the Universal Resorts and Hotels page. Go to the "sticky" that says Stay @ Hard Rock Hotel, Portofino Bay Resort or Royal Pacific Resort? Start here! You can get a lot of information about the Resorts and Parks. Have fun!:thumbsup2

As Damo said on another thread, you can walk up the driveway of the PBH to the HRH. Walk to the right of the entrance thru the parking lot, and you will be at Universal in 5-6 minutes.;)

We have stayed at RPR & HRH I like them both but this time we are staying at the PBH ,I chose this hotel because we have never stayed here plus the pool lucks really fun for my daughter who will be 12. I can save 240 by staying at RPR
so dont know.
