First, I have to say that Mike read some of my trip reports, and he was absolutely moritified that I revealed his age (from here forward, please think of him as 30-something instead of the aforementioned 35). He also denies that he only did slightly better than me in MIB (he did A LOT better than me -- OK, honey?). He also says that he found the Beach Pool straight away, and just chose to take a detour (see Day 3 of my trip report). Now that I've set the record straight...

Day 5 was a Sunday and a gorgeous morning. I was up before Mike, and headed off to the Villa Pool for a change of scenery. Mike met me down there a bit later, and we enjoyed a very lazy late morning at the pool. I was hungry and thought it'd be easier to just order lunch pool side and then we could head to IOA for what we deemed "water ride day." Good Lord. First, it took us forever to flag down a server, which should have been my first clue. Second, when we finally did flag her down, she should have warned us that it would take a full hour and a half for a silly sandwich to be delivered. So, we had a late start to IOA.

I wanted to do Spiderman (again) before we got wet. (I think Mike was glad that I had talked him into a Bonine this time.) Mike wanted to do Hulk. We went over to Dueling Dragons, and Mike made me promise to keep my eyes open this time. We rode Fire, and of course I had my eyes closed. When we came up on the near miss, Mike was screaming, "Open your eyes!!" I did, but probably not in time for the full effect.

By this time, the afternoon had cooled down considerably, and we were now cursing the poolside server at the PBH (a pox on her house!). We went on the Jurassic Park River Adventure. It was a walk on, and two little girls were laughing at me as I was deciding what I was going to do with the case I wear around my neck for my room key and park pass. They said they had just gotten off the ride and went back on because it was so much fun (they were probably all of 7 or 8 years old). They asked us if we'd ridden before (I was amazed at how friendly people were -- this made it the third time someone asked if we'd ridden a ride before), and we told them it was our first time. They said, "There's a surprise at the end!!" We were seated behind them in the same row with a very big guy. Now, I knew that there was a pretty steep drop at the end, and the lap bar only goes as tight as the biggest person in the row. I'm not a small person by any means, but I was a bit concerned I was going to fly right out of my seat as there had to be a good 8 inches between my belly and the lap bar. We made our way through most of the ride, and the girls turned around to giggle at us when we reached the big dinosaur. Then they turned back around and put their hands in the air for the drop. I, on the other hand, was white knuckled, holding onto the lap bar for dear life and screaming.

We headed over to Ripsaw, which had been operating just before we went on JPRA. We knew it was a bad sign when the water was no longer running down the drop, so we headed over to the Bilge Rat Barges.

This was pretty much a walk-on as well, and we were put in a barge where we brought the median age up to 22, when it had previously been 12. The kids took great delight in this, and we had 6 or 8 of them all trying to steer the barge together so that Mike and I would be the ones to get especially wet. I said, "Hey kids! Someday you're going to be old, and this won't be so funny!" It didn't matter. The two of us were drenched, but so were the rest of the kids. It's impossible to stay dry on that ride.

We headed back over to Ripsaw on the off-chance that it was operating again, but it would be another 45 minutes, and we didn't feel like waiting. So we waddled out to catch the boat back to the PBH and take some warm showers.

That night, we went to see the hypnotist, Doug Mac Graw, at City Jazz. We knew we had to be there before 7:30. At 7:15, we tried to buy our City Walk Party Passes, but there was some clueless lady in line in front of us who was asking what the party pass was, what all the different clubs were, etc, and she was taking FOREVER just trying to decide if she even wanted to buy a party pass at all. This just annoys me to no end, and Mike is always telling me I have no patience, but what kind of goofball goes on vacation and doesn't have the first clue as to what they're going on vacation to see and experience? (I know, it's tough being perfect.) She FINALLY decided to buy her pass, and we were all set. We got excellent seats for the hypnotist and settled in for a good show. Every year at college, we had a hypnotist come, and it was always a really funny show so I was looking forward to it. Doug Mac Graw was really tame, a bit too long, and not as funny. We toyed with leaving, but kept saying "what if it starts to get good?" Well, it really didn't, and we should have called it a night there about an hour earlier than we did.

We were off to Margaritaville for a drink. We actually just had beers at Margaritaville, so next trip we must at least have a Margarita there. This seems like a cool place, but it would be the only time we would spend there on our trip. This is definitely on our agenda for October.

Then we were off to Pattie O's, where we probably would've lived for the week, if given a choice.

We were back at the PBH by 1:30 am, realized we hadn't eaten since lunch, and ordered room service. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but we had about 2 bites of our dinners a piece and couldn't take another bite. It was a complete waste of $40. By now, we're feeling a bit depressed that tomorrow would be our last full day, and we went to bed to sulk.

Knowing that you are leaving the next day is so sad. Sorry you missed Ripsaw Falls. The drop is a dooosy!
