Seller Protection Policy Clarification

Notice Date: February 3, 2005
Effective Date: March 11, 2005
Beginning March 11, 2005, the PayPal Seller Protection Policy will be modified to better clarify what is required of sellers to be eligible for Seller Protection coverage on any given payment. Specifically, the following will be changed:

“Proof of shipping” is now “proof of delivery” for payments less than $250.00 USD. Please note that payments above $250.00 USD will still require a delivery signature.

“Proof of delivery” should show that the address shipped to corresponds to the address on the Transaction Details page.

So now we have to hope that mailman remembers to scan it when he delivers it. We've been running 100% in scanned packages, and I swear it's because we highlight on the DC label in bright pink.

Great idea to highlight the "Delivery Confirmation" on the label, Doris! Never thought of it, but have been lucky so far.

How will USPS feel when all the DISers who eBay start highlighting it in pink? :rotfl:

It should not be highlighted in pink. :sad2: The official color of Disboards is Lime Green. Make sure you use a lime green highlighter; they are available. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

They are the ones who suggested it:). The y used to have big florescent pink or green stickers I put on..when they ran out they suggested the highlighting. So far it seems to really do the trick.

Shouldn't all DISers be highlighting in GREEN? :goodvibes :cool1: :p

Okay,

I don't get.

Up to now when they scanned upon delivery it just shows that it was delivered at 2pm to zip code XXXXX and now are they saying that they want proof of the item shipped at the actual address? On the tracking it never shows the address but just the zip code and time delivered.

What are we suppose to do use only UPS or FEDEX?

share your thoughts :confused3

Mine shows the street address it's delivered to, not just the zipcode. It will show the zipcode sometimes of the post office if it's a po box in the post office, or if the mailman hasn't delivered it yet. Here is a copy (I changed the numbers of the addy to protect the innocent LOL)

Your item was delivered at 8:20 am on February 04, 1234 in HARWOOD HEIGHTS, IL 60706.

Okay I went back and checked about 50 of my mailed items and all were exactly like this:

Your item was delivered at 3:30 pm in Tampa, FL 33647.

None of them listed Street Address and all were shipped using Priority Mail and printing on the Paypal Website. Note: these are all shipped to Street Addresses.

What am I doing wrong? :confused3

Mine never showed the street address either.. Not a single one in hundreds of packages.. :( What's up with that? If I get back into eBay I don't want to have to deal with any hassles about DC.. :(

See, the highlighting works :cool1: . All of mine have the street addresses.

my wife and I both work for the USPS. delivery confirmation means nothing. I can scan anything as delivered. you prove me wrong. signature confirmation makes more sense, as the actual name of the recipient must be logged.

I'm hoping that the post office workers wouldn't scan it, unless it's being delivered. Can't do anything about postal workers that scan it and don't deliver, if that is what you are saying (I'm not quite sure what you mean).

However, for what this post is about (which is that it must show delivery and not just shipment per Paypal), if it shows it's delivered, it's good enough for Paypal. So in that case, DC will mean something.

By the way, I did scan some stuff that was shipped two days ago, and the addy doesn't show up just the zip. Looks like for me, if I wait a little longer, then the fulll addy shows up (unless it's being delivered to a PO box). All of last weeks that went to regular home addresses show addy's.

Signature confirmation would be great if

1. the buyers would pay for it
2. if someone will be home to sign for it.

Sorry! Just picked up the OP's "PINK" highlighter!

Hopefully, mail carriers won't scan DC packages as delivered without delivering them! Requiring signatures as proof of delivery would alienate many buyers. Apart from the cost, most people aren't home to receive packages. I don't have time to hang around my local post office on Saturday morning to pick up packages, and I'm sure others are the same! :)

When you print the labels thru PayPal, it also prints a receipt with the to and from addresses and DC tracking number. With that paper and the USPS website to check for delivery confirmation, you can establish proof of delivery (or proof of being scanned as delivered) to the address - not just the zip code. That should satisfy PayPal, I would think.

Hopefully, Paypal will accept these if the need ever rises because so far on a couple of mine's that were trying to chargeback, Paypal backed me with seller protection since I had everything but what confused me is now that they want the street address on the delivery confirmation page is not gonna happen(i wish it would) because last night I was up checking a lot of mailed items and all showed the city, state and zip only and not the street address.

I will try to highlight to see if that works and will update.

:)

Maybe the zip is going to be enough. ..although I still wonder why you all have zip only and I have full addy. I only get zip only, as I said, when sending to a PO box. Did you try checking some that were older?

The only change is proof of delivery instead of proof of shipping. If the zips were good enough for them before, for you, then I assume they will be again.

Does anyone know if PayPal still requires--can't think of what it is called--shipment to the buyer's registered address? About 90% of my buyers have things shipped to their work address, since no one is home and many live in multi-unit buildings.

I haven't been active on eBay for about 8 months and am preparing to gear up again for spring.
