Paypal class action suit

I got this email as well. I filled out the form because I did have a problem with Paypal earlier this year. What happened was I sold an item on ebay. The winner paid me via paypal and I shipped out their item the next day via USPS parcel post mail (which is what they requested). About a month later I received an authentic email from paypal that they were investigating the transaction because this user had been known to use fraudulent funds to pay for winning auctions on ebay. They asked me some questions about the auction which I answered and they said that they would contact me with the results of the investigation. About a week later, I was sent an email stating that they were returning the money to the account it came from because it was fraudulent so apparently l wasn't entitled to it. I fought the decision because I followed policy as a seller. They said that since I did not use a "trackable" shipping method (which the buyer didn't ask for---apparently for this very reason) I was not entitled to the refund. SO, in a nutshell....she got her item for free...and I never got my money! I tried to inform ebay about it but by that time, she was no longer a registered user on the site. So, I lost out!

I don't know if anything will come of this class action suit for me but it can't hurt to get my money back.!

I bought a fairly expensive item from a seller a while back and paid with credit card via paypal. When I hadn't received my item several weeks later and my numerous emails to the seller went unanswered I called my credit card and they did a chargeback. As it turned out the seller was on vacation and had shipped my item to the wrong address. I did eventually get it and I notified paypal and my credit card. My CC reposted the charge to my account and I paid it...Paypal NEVER gave that poor man his money back! They froze his account and no matter how much documentation we sent they would not give him his money. My CC insisted that paypal was paid by them, we emailed, called, faxed...all to no avail. We went back and forth with paypal for 3 months before the seller gave up. I felt awful about it and am now VERY wary of dealing with paypal. I ended up with much aggravation, that seller ended up out a couple hundred dollars, and paypal ended up AHEAD by a couple hundred dollars. Their customer service stinks. I hope he got this email and files because they definitely owe him big!

little mermaid-they did about the same exact thing to me. i had over $600 in my account and they froze my account wanting all this info. i even sent it to them and they did nothing. you cant even call and talk to anyone.

anyways- a quick call to the attorney general and a write up of all you sent gets the problem solved very quickly. it was about 3 days after i contacted the attorney general and everything was cleared up. I was also told by them that they have huge problems with paypal.

I recently received an email from PayPal but my email virus scanner thingy detected a virus and told me not to open it so that's what I did. Be careful!!

It does state that you may recover something under the statutory damage claim form even if you don't qualify for the short or long form. You have to fill out the statutory damage claim form online and print out the certification page and mail it. does not state how much you would get.

Unless you fall into a category that matches the specific problems the two original filers had, you will get a share of a one million dollar pot. (About $300,000 of that will probably go to legal expenses.) Even at a full million, when you divide it among all the people eligible for this class action, you probably won't get enough to buy a Mickey bar. You have to make a copy of your electronic filing and mail it surface mail. (So, there goes 37 cents).

If you meet the criteria for the original problems, you will share a pot worth 9 million plus with a much smaller class. So, you might actually see some benefit even after the lawyers are paid.

If you ask for a check, your share of the settlement will need to come out to at least a dollar or they will not mail the check to you.

If you want to, by all means join the suit, but don't wait for a big amount to show up in your pay pal account when all the dust settles.
