If you already have a package booked (room and tickets), then the package total will simply increase by the dining plan total and the same payment rules apply - $200 down with the balance due in full no less than 45 days before check in. You won't owe any extra (such as another deposit) immediately if you add dining. You can make partial payments any time you like as long as the balance is paid off 45 days before your trip.

If you have a room only reservation booked (not using an AP discount), you would have to switch to a package in order to add a dining plan. You would probably need to pay in a little more when you switch because a room-only requires a one night's stay deposit while a package deposit is $200. I don't know if this would be true if you have an AP because, alas, I've never had one to use.

If your reservation is booked using DVC points, the dining plan is payable in full as soon as it's added. If this is your scenario, you can add it a few weeks before your trip and pay it off at that time.

mary- I am using DVC actually but i want to make sure i understand you. So with DVC we would have the choice to call ahead and book it,but then pay it off? Sorry, i got confused!

Yes. DVC has to pay in full at the time they add the plan. The plan can be added up to 48 hours upon arrival. I am going to wait to add ours so we can have a little extra time to save the money.

Above is correct - DVC requires payment in full for the dining plan at the time you add it. No option for payment installments.
