I have read several contradicting threads on this board about whether or not you pay or just reserve when you make ressies to CRT. Some people say you have to pay at time the time of making the ressie, others have said that you only get charged if you don't show for the ressie. Which is it?!?! Someone please help!!!! I have to make my CRT ressies tomorrow morning, and I would like to know if I'll be paying alot or just holding our table.:confused3

Hi there! I'll fill you in on my experience.

When I called to make my ADR for our upcoming trip, we were not sure if we would be adding the dining plan or not. So the CM said since it was not added on our plan (we are DVC) that she would need a cc# and the full amount was going to be charged right then and there. She said if we decided to add the DDP to just call back and they would refund us the charge.

So 90-something dollars were charged to our cc on that day. I checked our account online to verify that it went through.

After discussing the DDP with my husband for a few days we decided to go ahead and add it (but being DVC members we don't pay for it until we check in). So I called the Dining line back and notified them we would be adding the DDP. They credited our cc for the full amount that day (again, I checked our account online to verify).

When speaking with the ADR CM, she did say that some places take a cc# to hold/guarantee your spot and that nothing is charged unless you fail to cancel or not show up. But some places (like CRT) will charge your card in full at the time of reservations and the only way to get your money back is if you call and cancel within the cancellation period.

I hope that helps!

ps - this is for our trip coming up in Feb.

Thanks so much for your fast response! That certainly does help. Now I know that I'll be paying out about 200 dollars in the morning!!!!:scared1:

I made our CRT ressie last week and our card was never charged. Why would there be a difference in procedure?

I booked CRTa few months ago for our Jan trip and my CC was charged, they would not give me the DDE discount either, don't know how I get this refunded

Normally, they do charge your credit card when you make the ADR. I have seen people on this board (as PP did) indicate they didn't get charged in advance. They won't charge you if you have booked on the DDP, so that's why maybe those folks don't see the charges. As a different PP indicated, we also booked six months out and were charged to CC, and when we booked DDP a couple months later, they reversed the charge. Note, the charge at CRT includes the tip, so don't leave extra!

We are on the DDP but I don't remember telling the CM that. I must have so that would be why we haven't been charged. I didn't know that so thanks. My DH will be happy because he hates holds and I used his card:rolleyes1 ;) .

If youre on the DDP they take the CC as a guarantee, if youre not on the DDP they charge the credit card at time of making it

I'm on the DDP and called and they took my CC just as a hold but weren't supposed to charge it. They didn't charge it before them but this CM made a mistake and charged it and then quickly reversed it.

It's been 3 weeks and still NO chargeback. :sad2: I keep calling and they keep telling me to wait. I'm a bit frustrated.
