New owner with new owner questions. Finally got our online setup and points added to our account after a resale purchase. When I click on "Dues" it says your 2022 dues are paid in full. Is the my dues for this year are paid in full or does that go by use year as well. Let me know if my question doesn't make sense.

Dues get billed in December no matter what use year they are due in January. So you will get a bill for 2023 dues.Welcome and enjoy.

Did you just buy VGF direct? If so, you won't see your 2022 fees posted as due until your use year begins. For example, our use year is August, and our 2022 VGF fees won't show up as needing to be paid until 8/1/22.

If you bought resale, it will depend on when your points begin. In most cases, if you don't have any 2022 UY points with the resale contract, the seller has already taken care of it. If you have a portion of the 2022 points in the contract, it's often a prorated amount that you might have already paid at closing.

Dues are assessed and paid on a calendar year basis. UY is irrelevant. So the calendar year 2022 dues on your contract have been paid in full. In December you will be notified the amount of the 2023 calendar year dues and will need to pay them in January (or set up monthly bank draft).

When buying a contract via resale, part of the negotiation process may involve whether the buyer reimburses the seller for part or all of the current calendar year's dues. The agreement is sometimes based on whether the buyer is getting part or all of the current UY's dues. It's possible that part of what you paid the seller was a reimbursement of 2022 dues. That has nothing to do with DVC's determination of dues owed - it's strictly between the seller and buyer, and again, DVC dues are assessed and paid based on calendar year, not UY.
