We have free QS dining and have booked three TS meals to pay out of pocket,
I was wondering if I am paying do I have to show my Key To the World card when I check in or pay my bill?

Thanks!!

No, you don't have to show them your kttw card/hotel key unless you are charging it to your room. If you are charging it to your room then you hand it to them when they hand you your bill at the table and they know how to run it on your room.

You do have to show your kttw card everytime you get a CS meal though....that way they can take the meal from your pool of meal points.

With 3 TS meals, have you looked into the price of upgrading to the DDP. We had three booked as well: Ohana, Tusker House and Whispering Canyon. OOP = $190 and Upgrade = $250. for 12 nights. It was well worth it for us to upgrade and NOT pay OOP. (;

We factored the upgrade fee and the cost of buying our extra snacks (QSDP gets 2 and DDP gets 1) plus we'd have a few extra QS meals....and our mugs would be OOP as well since the DDP doesn't offer those :(

It comes out to be more then us just paying OOP for the few TS meals we want. Plus the extra tips for the extra TS meals would be more as well. With the way prices are going though, it may be different next year...we like to figure it each year before making our decision to upgrade or not.

At first I was a little confused by this but you have the 2011 plan, correct? The 2012 plan only allows for 1 snack credit on the QS plan and you do get a resort mug on the regular plan, right? We have free QS for January 2012 and I was going to upgrade to regular dining. I think that makes sense for us rather than paying oop for the 2 meals we wanted.

Also, to upgrade do I just call the regular reservation # and let them know what I want to do? I am assuming yes but just checking.

Right, the 2012 meal plans are a bit different. The QS will only include 1 snack next year and I do believe that the regular DP will add the mug then? We'll probably pay to upgrade next year....the tables will turn. It'll end up costing us more OOP then to upgrade and we'll have to buy our extra snack anyway (we might be one of the only families that uses 2 snacks a day LOL...but we spend a lot of ours at F&W festival so they go quickly.

Not only do you NOT show your card when paying OOP, but I actually found I had more peace of mind by NOT tying my credit card to my KTTW. That way, when I presented my KTTW at a meal, I knew the payment was coming off the DDP because that's all the card could access. If I was paying OOP I gave them my credit card instead. Not really any more difficult to carry 1 credit card along with the KTTW. When you check in to your resort and they ask you if you want charging to the room privleges, just say no.

We were thinking of not putting charging on our KTTW card this year, we really only used it when we were on the TS meal plan and wanted to also pay the tips, or extras like glow cubes on it. This year we're on the QSDP plan and paying OOP for our TS and what you posted gives me one more reason to not tie charging to my KTTW card. No mistakes in charging a meal instead of using dining credits....makes sense :)

Another option would be to have charging on just one card and only use that one when paying OOP. Any of the other cards could be used for dining plan purchases.

Personally, I feel safer charging to my KTTW rather than carrying a debit or credit card with me. If I lose the KTTW card, I can report it to Disney before any potential charges go to my actual debit or credit (since they only run the card when it hits a certain amt or before checkout) and never have to deal with getting them reversed. Also much faster to get the KTTW card replace while at Disney than getting a replacement cc or debit card.
