Paying off resort stay by fax only??

So I am trying to pay off my balance for my Royal Pacific resort stay. I called universal and was told they would send me something by mail to pay and they do not take payments over the phone only for reservations and cannot take other payments.

So I called another universal number to confirm this, and was told in fact they would email me a form to turn in by fax and pay by CC. She told me that they only take reservation payments and you cannot pay off balances online or by phone.

Okay, I won't get into how stupid that seems being a national resort. Is this true???

I got the form by email ( per the second phone call) and have to send in the form filled out, a copy of my drivers license, and copy front and back copy of my cc. Hello? Identity Theft comes to mind! Is thier anyway to get around this. Tell me this is not the only way. I feel really uncomfortable doing this. They should have told me this from the get go and I would have paid in full. Not to mention good thing I did not call the day the final payment was due.

When I stayed at RPR two years ago, that was the same process to pay the reservation in full. Too bad they haven't automated it yet. And, I forgot to pay for the whole reservation this year and am going to be faced with the same process at Portofino Bay.

If it is any consolation, when I did it last time, I had no issues. Once I got the email with the form, I called that person back and then they callled me as soon as they go the faxed form. Not sure if that is still how it would work though.

That is the way they do it when you have a hotel stay only and there is no need to pay off the stay before you get there. It is legit, so don't worry about it. If you are worried, just wait until you get there to pay it off.

The only way that you would have to pay it off before you got there is if you purchased a package through Universal Vacations. In that case, you are dealing with the travel agency and not the hotel itself. You should be calling Universal Vacations to make arrangements to pay off the package and not the hotel. This is the Universal Vacations number (package reservations) 1-877-801-9720. This is the Universal Resorts (hotel reservations only) number 1-888-464-3617

As long as you trust the company, faxing the info inis just as safe, safer actually,than honing in your cc number. Either way you are giving your info to someone and hoping and assuming that they aren't keeping it for their use. And a fax isn't going to be as easy to intercept as the phone call. I used to take payments for orders at amazon, and the international customers often faxed on their payment. I put the info into the shredder. If you trust the universal employees to not write down your cc info, you need to trust them to shred your faxed info.

I make my reservation online, then I send payments by mail(check) to loews hotel accounting dept. Been doing this the last few years with no problems.

I not sure of the address(I always call them) Tell them you want to send payments for your upcoming stay. I know you have to put your dates & hotel name, res. # on the check.

Thanks for the replies. It just didn't seem right but I will do that. They told me my room only reservations is due before my arrival oh well. I will do this.

If you are dealing with the hotels, you do not need to be paying anything other than a one night's deposit ahead of time. How far in advance of your arrival were you told that your full amount is due?

If you are making your payment to Universal Parks & Resorts Vacations, then for some strange reason you are dealing with the travel agency and do need to pay off your balance in advance but should be able to mail in a cheque.

If your payment isn't going to the above address, then you shouldn't be needing to pay it off in advance if you don't want to and are feeling uncomfortable.

We always like to have our room paid in advance, so we fill out the fax forms. We have never had a problem with theft. I was hesitant at first, thinking the same as you, but no problems so far. We have even paid extra to have a prepaid amount for room/park charges.

Why not pay off the room when you get there. I guess I just dont get what the difference is. The only time I ever pay for a room in advance is when we go to Disney and thats because I get a package.

I was told I had to pay it off by Feb 29 for my march 2 checkin. After reading this clearly that should not be the case for a room only and the customer service person had to have made a mistake when she booked me. Either way I did fax it in. It is nice to have it taken care of in advance neways. Thanks
