Paying for your vacation

Would someone please enlighten me as to how the deposit works and whether there are subsequent payments? I have a trip booked, but since it was less then $200 I just paid the whole thing. (I plan to add tickets and dining plan on my next billing cycle).

Anyway, we are planning a trip of at least 6 nights at AKL and that will be significantly more than $200 and I am not likely to be able to pay it off at the time of booking. Do you just pay the balance when you check out, or are you required to make regular payments while the trip is pending so it is paid off before you go?

If you book a package, there is a $200 deposit, payable in 14 days, and the balance is to be paid in full 45 days before your vacation.

It all depends on what you want. A package will include the room and tickets, will require a $200 deposit, and you pay the balance 45 days prior to trip. You can also make payments toward your balance prior to the 45 day mark.

There's also the dining plan, which has to be booked with a package. Now depending on when your trip is, Disney is offering the dining for free for select dates Aug/Sep. If you're not familiar with the dining plan, go over to the Dining Plan board and check it out.

If you book room only, you pay a deposit but cannot pay the balance until the end of your stay. We have a savings account just for our travels and stockpile $$$ there. After paying the balance at the end of our stay with our Disney Visa, I pull $$$ from that account for the full amount.

If you book a room only reservation ONLINE then you can't pay it off until you check in. However, for whatever reason, if you book by phone for a room only reservation you can make payments, or pay it off any time you want.

Perhaps that policy has changed now. I tried this a year ago and it was a no go.
