Paying for your trip in advance?

Does anyone have the address to send in payments for your trip? I would like to pay on it monthly so I will have it paid for in advance. Also, do they send you receipts when you send in a monthly payment? Has anyone done this before and does it work out good for you?

Hi - I have never sent checks but I do call and make debit card payments with my VISA debit card throughout the year and our room is always prepaid before we get there. They never send me any kind of receipts for those payments so I wouldn't think that they would send you receipts for your checks but I may be wrong. I think the payment address is listed on the back of your reservations confirmation. Its a great feeling to start your vacation knowing that everything is paid and you won't have to face those credit card bills when you get back home. Have a great trip.

pre-paying works great for us. Have to keep asking for new receipts though. Pymt address just changed to chicago

I worked through Dreams Unlimited and was able to make my payments by calling in with my credit card. You could also pay via the internet. We leave in 3 weeks and have had the trip paid off for awhile. It's a great feeling to know that the trip is paid for and whatever expenses we incur there will be fine.

We never prepay. we put the $$ in a savings account a little at a time. we then use a cc to pay for the trip ( major costs, hotel etc.) then we pay off the cc with the $$ in savings account. That way WE get the interest on the $$.. Disney doesn't. Plus we use the cc so we aren't carrying large amounts of cash. I find this is very easy....just be sure not to touch the $....open a seperate savings account to use only for vacation money if you have to!

I came across this same subject here on the Disboards sometime last year. The woman who posted, mentioned that she and her husband prepaid their hotel stay months in advance of their trip. Disney didn't give them any receipts, just as the other posters have mentioned. When they got to their Disney resort to check-in, the front desk had no evidence that they had prepaid. The CM checking them in, said the balance of 'x' amount dollars was still due. Needless to say it took the couple a while to sort out this problem.

While this is probably an issolated case, I recommend getting copies of every payment you send Disney from your bank. (Or keep the bank statements in which the payments appear on.)That way if you have any problems at check-in, you have hard evidence that you paid.

I have payments in the past and always recieved a new update reservation slip. The amount of payment listed at the bottom would increase with each payment. You need to know your total amount to pay as it will not tell you that you have the total paid.

I have considered paying in advance, but am worried about possibly needing to cancel. If you need to cancel, is it hard to get your money back? By hard, I mean, do you need to make repeated phone calls?

This has been a long anticipated trip for me and my two sons....long because I refuse to get in debt by charging on credit cards and paying for the next x amount of years. What I've been doing is making "payments" every month into my savings account, and when we finely go on our trip, I will use my debit card to "charge" our room/meals/tickets/etc. It's going to be nice to know after our wonderful vacation, I will not have a large credit card bill to remember it by. I think I'd be wary of paying the room totally in advance in case we had to cancel for some unforeseen reason. I'm sure we'd get the $ back, but "just in case"...

I sent in a final payment to the Dolphin for my in-laws 50th anniversary trip. I haven't received any confirmation but I do have the canceled check.

I am going to call them and double check so that there's no unpleasant surprises when we get down there.

I'm thinking about paying our balance (Dolphin) in full with my Disney credit card by Jan this way I can get my Disney dollars in time for our late Feb trip. Can I do this?

We do exactly as ScanMom has suggested. We will save for all of our trips in advance and keep the money in a separate account. We have the comfort knowing that our trip is paid for in advance....we just hold the money!

We get to earn the interest and pay for our trip expenses on our SkyMiles CC..thus earning skymiles...and pay if off upon return home.

This has worked for us for 25 years!

I've been paying off one night at a time, and with each payment I've gotten a new confirmation letter with the updated balance. They also state the amount paid so far, so I hold onto the cancelled check until I receive the confirmation. Then I'll just bring the confirmation with me in case I have any problems at check-in.

For anyone who plans on paying with a debit card at check-in, please make sure that your bank doesn't have a daily limit before you leave. When we checked into SOG during our honeymoon using our debit card, the card was declined. We were needless to say horrified, because we knew we had enough to cover the amount after depositing all our wedding checks

After what seemed like the longest hour of my life, and many tears later, we found out what the problem was. Our bank had a $300 per day withdrawal limit. This is supposed to be to protect you in case your card was ever stolen, but I wish we had known about it sooner! We had to make several calls to the bank to get things cleared up and authorize the withdrawal, but eventually everything worked out. I think a lot of banks do this, so just a heads up for anyone (like me) who didn't know about it!

What I do for our August trip every year is take my Xmas $$ and send it directly to WDW for our trip. I have always asked for, and always gotten, a confirmation. With savings accounts only earning 1% interest, and the "temptation" to spend that $$ on "other things", I like to have it socked away at WDW, instead! When we checked in this past summer, the CM was wide-eyed at our "deposit", but laughed when I explained that this was for our entire trip (since we put meals/golf cart/etc on our room card). That way I know our trip is paid for, no matter what happens in the months in between...

We have always prepaid our stays and never had any problem. I do usually call before we leave to make sure they show us with a zero balance. I have never received any kind of receipt though.

Disney Ella: We had to cancel once and had no problem getting a refund. We received it about a week after I called.

Just a note about a limits on a debit card. I believe the limit applies only towards ATM withdrawls. If you use it as a credit card (still debit, but process it as Visa/MasterCard, whichever emblem you have on the card) you should be okay. I've always used my debit card like a credit card and have never had limitations.

Ditto for me. I keep my $$$ as long as possible. Plus, if I have to cancel , it's not a big deal as far as the money.
