Paying for Room Only with Gift Cards

What is the best way to do it if I want to pay for a room with gift cards?

We have a split stay (2 nights and then 5 nights) and I received a notification overnight our second night was just charged for tomorrow night. I was hoping to pay for this night with a gift card. It's fine because I can put the gift card towards the 2nd resort, but if they do it the day before check-in, it'll be charged before we can even get to the resort.

Will they charge for the full 5 nights before we even check in? (I don't remember it being like that before?)

Yes, this is how they do it. The full amount is charged before you arrive. If you want to prevent that call Disney and make a payment ahead of time with your gift card.

It’s nbd if they charge you, go to the front desk when you arrive and say you want to pay with gc. They will reverse the cc charge and use your gc. Likewise if you want to pay your charges to your room and you miss doing that the night before checkout with a gc and your cc is charged just go to the front desk on checkout day and say you want to pay with a gc. They’ll reverse the cc charges and process your gc.

That was probably one of the easiest calls to WDW! No long wait and an extremely helpful CM who gave lots of fun facts and tips. I ended up using the gift card for the second resort instead. Typically, we use the GCs for dining and purchases instead of resort room (we also stay at Shades of Green a lot), and I didn't remember WDW charges before you arrived.

We have used GC's to pay for our resorts and then for all of our room charges for most of our trips. It's great not to have our CC hit with any charges and then you add in we save 5%

Yes you can use Gift Cards to pay for resort stays, we have done that a few times in the past

We have always gone to the front desk and used the gift cards there.

In July, when I arrived I went to the front desk and paid for my room only with my gift cards (they seemed to charge each night as it went by) Paid the 1st night via CC when I orginally booked. It was super easy and no reversal was needed
