I bought through TSS, and their escrow agent doesn't take credit cards. I'm paying cash, but wouldn't it be sweet to get some rewards on such a HUGE transaction? Has anyone used one of the checks for a resale through Disney VISA (their rules say no points for checks, but have you called and gotten an exception)? Any other credit card that gives rewards for using one of their checks?

We used our Disney Visa (not a check though, the card) to pay for half of a new car in order to get the benefits. We were paying cash for most of it and using home equity for the rest. At first the car company wouldn't do it, but I negotiate this as part of the trade-in. Worked out great for us -- nice chunk of Disney Dollars for our August trip!

It wasn't resale, but we purchased both of our add-ons through DVC using our Disney Visa. It was a nice way to get some extra reward dollars!

I can't help directly answer your question, but would the escrow company even accept such a check? I thought payments like that had to be via some sort of certified check or money order since it's a real estate transaction.

No, the sales agent was the one that suggested it. She said that 90% of the time, the cc company would allow the rewards, if asked. Since the changeover to Chase, I don't necessarily trust that they'll allow the check to be treated like a charge.

Disney Visa will let you charge the down payment on the card and interest doesn't accrue for six months. And you still get the reward points.

That's only on purchases direct from DVC. I believe OP was asking about a resale.

Nope, you don't earn rewards with the checks. But my TSS agent says that people have gotten that rule waived, so I was wondering if anyone has had experience with that. Or, if there was a credit card that allowed rewards for using the checks.

I mean, I'm thrilled to be buying into DVC, but hey, if I can get some rewards somewhere somehow, even better! :flower:

Got 200 pts BWV--Down payment Disney Visa 6 months interest free---1/2 balance 15 days later Disneys Visa---Final balance 45 days later Disney Visa. Lots of rewards.

Forgot to say got pts from Disney June 11.

Because the title company that TSS uses cannot accept credit cards, I was advised by my salesperson to call my card's Customer Service Dept. and ask for a cash advance since it wasn't my fault that I couldn't use plastic. They agreed without so much as an argument. Then I asked them to waive the 3% fee. After a moment on hold, that was approved as well. Final and most important question...will I get my miiles?? Answer: YES. It doesn't get any better than that.

I intended to pay cash anyway, so I paid off the bill when it arrived but I got credit for the miles. My salesperson said it works the same for most cards depending on the bank. If the first person you speak to doesn't have the authority to approve waiving the fee, ask for a supervisor. You may have to push a little but these companies obviously want our business or they wouldn't keep mailing all this stuff to us!!

Go for it ::yes::
