Las Vegas Paying for parking

Hi

Can anyone tell me if you have to pay for parking at the hotels on the strip if visiting for a look see, also if you are staying at one do they charge for parking??

Just use the self parking at one of the hotels. no charge

I doubt any have a parking fee, because they would like you to park there so you have to use, I mean walk through thier casino.

I've used the valets at a few of the strip hotels and it's free too.


On Freemont Street there is a parking structure at the west end. It used to cost money and be super easy to get validated but this was 10-15 years ago and I've heard it's free now.

on the main strip, mandalay to wynn, and a few more north properties have no charge parking, both self parking and valet.

fremont's main parking garage does charge and there are pay to park parking spots around that area.

and depending on where you stay or want to visit, sometimes it is easier to park at a hotel next to the one you would like to visit. like caesar's, planet hollywood, palazzo have off strip, less busy entrances for self parking, so you can maneuver up and down those sides while finding plenty of parking, and much easier exits at anytime

Unless you are downtown, I can only think of one place in Vegas that charges for parking. That is the parking garage next to the United Artist theatre and Gameworks on the Strip. It costs a flat $3, which you pay up front. The downtown casinos (not near the Strip) do charge for parking, but the charge is usually waived once validated. Therefore, it is collected when you leave assuming you did not validate or validation does not cover your entire parking time.

Last week, we encountered a variation of this.

They charged $3 to enter the parking lot, which was refunded in cash if you went into the casino and presented your receipt to the cashier.

We didn't mind, as we were having dinner at that casino anyway.

There were a couple of years where we took the bus, but the last couple trips it was AWFUL! I think I could have walked faster than the bus - what with all the stops and the traffic on the strip!!! LOL.

About valet parking, what I was always taught was to NOT tip when you dropped off your car - only trip $2-$3 when you collected the car. A good place to get appropropriate Las Vegas etiquette for such things is the "Unofficial Guide to Las Vegas."

I can confirm you will pay at the Main Street Station surface lot, but can get reimbursed if you go into their casino. It used to be that you could park at some of the places downtown and get your parking pass "validated"; but I think they've slowly been changing that.

Other than downtown, I have not heard of any other properties that charge for parking.
