Paying for kids OOP to save credits for an extra Ts

We have been to Disneworld the past 2 Sept's and always just booked the # of Restaurants we had credits for. This year we have 1 extra meal booked. I wondered on our 1st night if we could just pay out of pocket for the kids at Kona Cafe and save their TS credits for our B'fast at Chef Mickey's? We are not trying to use child credits for adults and I know that is not even an option I just wanted to pay for the cheaper meal out of pocket and save that credit for Chef Mickey's. The adults would just pay out of pocket at Chef Mickey's.

We will check in on Sat. Sept 15th and out Sun. Sept 23rd. Our ADR's are Kona Cafe, B'fast at Play and Dine, Dinner at Crystal Palace, Coral Reef, Akherus Princess Dinner, Chef Mickey B'fast, WCC, and Ohana's for Dinner. Have a 3yo DD and 6yo DS. These are some of our favorites and some of our new ones.

We are staying at POFQ. We stayed there last year and loved it. Wish we would have booked WL this year but I'm just tight with our money. Where are you guys staying?

You are so lucky! I would love to stay at POFQ, but dh said we did'nt need to waste the money. We will be staying at asmu. (better then nothing)
I can't wait, it gonna be so much fun.

Amber1-YOu guys will have a great time wherever you stay. I would be happy to stay anywhere as long as I could go. I don't think you can go wrong on Disney Property plus you are saving money for extra's in Disney that way. Hope you guys have a wonderful trip and we may run into you but I guess we wouldn't know it. Have Fun!!!

Amber1- Doesn't look like we are at the same places on the same dates. Sept 15th is Kona around 5, Sept 16th is B'fast at Play and Dine at 8:15, and Crystal Palace at 5:00, Sept. 17th- Spoodles at 5:10, Sept.18th,Epcot Princess Dinner at 4:55, Sept.19th, AK-EMH just eat CS,Sept.20th,Chef Mickeys at 10:40am and WCC at 5:20, Sept. 21st Coral Reef at 5:20, Sept.22nd O'hana's at 5:25. Hope you guys have a great trip. We always have so much fun that I start planning my trip for the following year when I get home. Keeps me from getting to sad.

Are the adult and child TS credits on the DDP different or are they all together in one account? I am seeing threads about people paying OOP for the kids' meals. Do people then save the TS credits for a 2 TS meal?

I'm not trying to get away with anything at all. I'm a newbie to all this and am just truly curious how this all works.

I'm not trying to get away with anything at all. I'm a newbie to all this and am just truly curious how this all works.

People used to be able to do this, but no more, as the TS meal credits are separated into adult and child. Too many people out there really were trying to get away with something, and did, for a long time.

Actually, in the old days, if you were the stereotypical American family of 2 adults and 2 kids, you could take the kids to one of the child care centers (where they get dinner), while the parents used the 4 TS credits for a nice signature meal. Never did it, was still against the rules, but it was possible.

Thanks everyone for the replies, I will just tell the server when we order we will be paying oop for the kids that night. Again we will save their credits for Chef Mickeys and the adults will pay oop that meal. Thanks again and yeah we just got the $59 one way on Southwest so we are finally flying vs. driving. Hope we are ok without a car. We have used our car some on previous trips but not a necessity!
