So I have heard on here about people paying dues with gift cards so we have been buying them at Target to save money (DH's discount because he works there and the red card) but today I went online to pay some of it and realized they don't have an option to pay with a gift card???

How do you pay your dues with gift cards? Can you still do it?

You can't do it online. You have to call MS and pick Option 3 (Member Accounting)

It's really very easy. As myxdvz says, you call the 800 number and select the option for Member Administration.

I just applied 4 Disney Gift Cards (that I purchased from Target ) to my dues last week. All I had to do was read the numbers to the CM. Took less than 5 minutes (but I only had 4 cards). The next day, my balance on the Members' Website reflected the partial payment.

I plan to call again next week to apply the rewards from my Disney VISA Rewards Card and then I will finish paying online with a credit card.

It was easy to do! My biggest issue was remembering to bring the GC's to work with me, then not having to work thru my breaks. MS is open m-f 8-5 est. I work 330a-215pm pst. Only got one break last week due to the weather and delays and full planes due to holiday travel.

To add on... you can also use regular visa or Mastercard gift cards for paying your dues. This was great for me since we got quite a few over xmas and I always forget to use them.

I joined this to add my two cents about how easy it is to use Disney gift cards but learned something myself! Never thought of using Visa/Mastercard gift cards to pay - great idea since I also tend to let them sit.

You can also fax a list of gift cards to member accounting. I faxed a list of 50 $50 cards Friday.

Quick tip - it's easier to peel the silver backing off the back of the card than scratching it off.

Have they applied your gift cards yet? I submitted 40 Wednesday of last week. They applied 3 cards and then stoped. I was just wondering if their was a problem or if they are backed up.

They're probably backed up. I faxed a list of 100 gift cards yesterday morning. I called in the afternoon just to confirm that they received the fax. They told me to call back on Wednesday because it will take them 2 days to go through all the faxes:confused3. I'll definately be at bit nervous until all those are posted to my account.

I'll keep this in mind for next year. I spent about an hour scratching that stuff off 100 gifts cards and it made quite a mess.

A coworker of mine has a husband that works at Target. He got me $450 worth of Disney gift cards today for $384.75 with his employee discount and red card discount. Woo hoo!

I have a small contract, but I would have him buy 200 of them for me if I needed it :cool1:

Although your fine on these boards since no one knows you... in person be careful about broadcasting this. Target employees can lose their job if its found they are using their discounts for non-family.

Thanks for the heads up. I would hate to lose that connection!

I keep forgetting to call back to verify they could read the fax. I did just log in to dvcmember and it says my balance is $0. So I think I'm all applied.

Being an accountant with 10-key skills came in handy keying in all those numbers - twice (wanted to make sure I didn't miskey one).

Just out of curiosity, since this friend of mine did me a favor buying the cards for me, they wanted to know if they can book a cruise through Disney with the gift cards. Since they get a good discount on them, I would do the same if they allow that. Does anyone know if you can book a stay at the parks or a cruise with gift cards? I'm sure it would take a while to process that many $50 gift cards, but for a several hundred dollar savings, it is worth it.

Edit.....It looks like you can from here http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/faqs/site-help/reservations-booking/apply-payment/
but do they restrict how many you can use?

You should really call Disney cruise line and tell them you would like to use x number of gift cards and see what they say. You need to be careful since I have heard that some purchases Disney limits the method of payment, I believe it was ticket purchases, and each gift card was considered a different method of payment.

The limit with Gift Cards when purchasing tickets is only when purchasing thru DVC. At the ticket booths and on the regular ticketing phone lines, multiple Gift Cards are considered a single payment method.

Ok I will let them know. I am not doing the cruise, I just got a favor from a friend. They asked me because they are planning a cruise. According to the Disney gift card website, they can pay for the cruise online with them, and apply them to their ship account for everything on the boat/excursions, etc. Really good news for them. Just an example.....a $5000 cruise with say $1000 onboard credit....Employee discount of 10% plus another 5% redcard discount on top, is roughly a 14.4% discount when combined.....That's an $870 savings. Not bad for just taking the time to punch in a bunch of numbers on a computer for a significant amount of time :badpc:

Although, that would require purchasing 120 gift cards. I would assume he would have to buy them a bunch at a time. I doubt any store has 120 of them in stock.

What is the fax number for paying dues with gift cards? Do I have to call first and tell them I am doing this, or just shoot them the fax?

Thanks.

The Fax number for Member Accounting is 407-938-4117. I would call them first to verify. They can be reached at the same phone number as MS, but using option 3 on the phone menu.
