Paying for DDP ahead of time?

I know that DVC members getting the DDP usually pay for it on check-in, but I'm giving my nephew and his wife a DVC stay as a wedding gift and wondering about getting them the DDP as well. Can I call MS and pay for it ahead of time?

Not yet. Sometime this year they are adding that option. You could give them a Disney gift card that they could use to pay for the DDP on check in.

I heard that too - although the rumor I heard is that it won't be optional this Fall, the Dining Plan must be paid for ahead of time when added to a DVC reservation. Also heard that they may have a limitation of only taking payments using a credit card with the name on the card matching one of the guest names.

I'd do this if you could. We have used gift cards and Disney Reward Dollar cards before to pay for the dining plan. You can get these at just about any pharmacy or grocery store these days.
