I am off in March and have got standard half board.
I was hoping to book a character meal in Cafe Mickey using my vouchers as part payment.
I phoned disney today and I think I must have spoken to the rudest disney person ever. At first she told me that I would have to upgrade to half board premium if I wanted to do "luxurys like that", then when I quoted the brochure to her about using the vouchers as part payment she told me she couldnt organise anything in advance and I should turn up at the door and see what they allow it.
I put the phone down confused because at the bottom of the brochure page it says that character meals should be booked in advance.
What do I do next, do I need to prebook character meals and pay the difference, or can I turn up with my half board vouchers and get them off the bill.
Please help me:confused3

Don't worry at all about it :) .

You can reserve a table without paying in advance. Just call the Dining Reservations number.
Then, when you are actually at the restaurant, tell your waiter that you have half board vouchers. They will give you your bill at the end of your meal, and you hand over your vouchers and the difference you have to pay in cash.

It really is no problem at all.

Unfortunately, CM's (especially the ones on the phone) sometimes have little or no clue :confused3 . Usually if I get one, and I know they are wrong, I just say thank you, put the phone down, and call again, to speak to another CM ;) .

Thanks for that, just a couple other silly questions.
So am I free to order anything off the menu or do I have to stick to a set menu because I'm having a character meal?

No you can eat whatever you want! There is a 3 course set menu in Cafe Mickeys for 30 euros - but only if you want that, you can whatever you would like!:)

Glad you've got a proper answer on here :thumbsup2 When I rang up to book our first trip the CM I got was v v pushy (so much so I wondered if he was on commission). He told me loads of wrong information about a few bits - luckily, I'd 'spoken' to people on here and I knew other/better - I stood my ground (although I'm usually one to back down lol) and he went off for ages and came back and brusequely told me I was right! Very rude indeed and tbh they should know their 'business' better IMO.

Hope you have a lovely trip. If you have girls I'd heartily recommend the Auberge de Cendrillion (Cinderella/Princess meal). It's very expensive but worth every penny :lovestruc
