I have booked my DLRP holiday with First Choice but out of the official Disneyland Brochure. I was just looking in the back and see that I can book and pay for Cafe Mickey, The Lucky NUgget Saloon and Plaza GArdens Tea Party. I understand that TLNS and PGTP are buffet style anyway so they will be fine but if I book and pay for Cafe Mickey will I be restricted to a set menu when I get there?

Has anybody done this before? I'm just trying to be cheap and wondering if I pay the fixed amount before hand if the Euro gets and worse then I'll be better off? Also it's one less thing to pay for when we get there?

ANy help would be appreciated.

I don;t know about paying in advance, but it could be similar to the half boards optins, where you get a limited menu, but can then choose to pay extra to choose from the standard menu.

If you do want to save money, then the Half boards plans are good to invest in.

This is the best site I've found that explains the system:

You can call your hotel and add it on at any time. Everyone on the phone is very helpful.

Im not 100% but why dont your ring first choice and ask?

Im thinking of doing this aswell, but for the meal with the princesses.

OP, Cafe Mickey has a character breakfast that is a buffet. Probably, it's for that meal that you can/ have to prepay!

You can book in advance and pay in advance for an evening meal at Cafe Mickey.
When I phoned to book a table in advance in October 07, they first of all assumed I wanted to pay in advance too.

I can't help you with which menu etc you would be offered I'm afraid, as I only reserved the table in advance on the phone, then paid the bill as normal at the end of the meal.

I did this when in January I booked our June holiday I booked and paid for meals at Cafe Mickey, a Plaza Gardens Tea Party and Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. It's a bit cheaper to book in advance.

Thanks Jonjo. COuld you let me know when you get back if you had to pick off a set mene at Cafe Mickey as we don't go until August.

Thanks

You have to pick from certain starters, main courses & desserts.

This site http://www.dlpfoodguide.com/cafemickey.html gives you a list of the menu available & anything marked with '*' is what you can have.

We normally do this but on our next trip we're going to pay whilst we're there as the menu is quite restrictive.

we went to Cafe Mickey on tuesday and i would think twice about booking the set menu... the main course was so big you didnt really need a starter and the mains were about 15 euro each or 30 euro for the 3 course set menu. if you wll definitly want the 3 course then booking in advance may make it easier but if you find that 3 course's is normally to much then maybe pay on the day... also it is normally the drinks that build up the bill so we asked for a jug of water for the table... every little helps!:thumbsup2

A very good point. :thumbsup2 I've been to Cafe Mickey twice now. Both times I was starving hungry and ordered three courses from the set menu. Both times I have struggled and had to leave some of the main course in order to have room for a dessert. I've learnt my lesson now and will only have two courses next time!! :rotfl:
