My mom and I have a little disagreement going and I want to see if anyone on the disboards has the answer. :confused3

As long as you purchase the DDP (We are getting the deluxe dining, if that is important to the question) and pick from the restuarants that are on the disney dining list, do you or do you not have to pay anything extra for your meal and drinks?

What does your meal include?

Your meal includes the entree, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage, and tax. There are a very few restrictions at a veryfew restaurants; let your server know you're using Dining Plan credits and they'll tell you about any restrictions.

Also appetizer.

No extra cost per se for the higher end restaurants, but your higher end restaurants require 2 credits instead of 1. You get 3 credits per day though, so on those days that you eat a 2 credit meal just eat lunch or breakfast (not both) or eat a late brunch instead.

I did. She was trying to tell me we would have to pay an additional cost at the higher up type places to eat. I thought she was crazy. :lmao:
I still think you need to pony up two credits for the signature restaurants, though.

If you order any side items then you have to pay for those too. Often my dd will order a side item of vegetables, esp since most entrees don't have them. We have also been charged for coffee after we have gotten our cold beverage. Not sure if that is standard policy or not.

We were never charged for coffee after our regular drinks. We got it several times during our trip, in take out cups usually. We weren't even charged for lattes with dessert at Spoodles.

We have! I can't remember which restaurant it was but I remember "saving" my non-alcoholic beverage for dessert and I couldn't get a fancy coffee.

We just got back and we had to pay extra for coffee or drink water with our meal at every restaurant except one. It was doubly annoying because in most places the coffee tasted awful and sometimes wasn't hot. Coffee, alcohol, side dishes and tip - you can't avoid those OOP expenses.

OK, at least I'm not the only one that was charged extra for coffee. The two places I remember most recently were at Cape May and the Turf Club. The server comes by at desert time and asks if you would like coffee with your desert and we say, that sounds good. Then we get a bill for it. We still order coffee, but at least now we know we have to pay extra for it.

Well, it's not entirely unreasonable. The Dining Plan includes an entree, a dessert, and a non-alcoholic beverage. Two different beverages - except at breakfast - is, well, two. Now, if you could prove that Guests paying cash are regularly not charged for coffee-as-second-beverage, it may be worth presenting as an issued to Disney.

Yeah, one of the drawbacks to inconsistency - and this specific scenario probably isn't one the servers run into with enough frequency that one would think to inform her/his diners that "fancy coffee" isn't covered :(
