Hi guys

I am about to send off our wedding contract with deposit to Disney but i am a little unsure of how to pay.

It states in the contract you can pay via credit card (no debit cards) or cheque. Unfortunately we dont have a credit card so i am looking to pay by cheque. Obviously because my cheques are from a UK bank i need to put the amount in £'s, do i just presume i convert the $1000 deposit fee into £ ??

Or am i best just applying for a credit card any paying that way? :confused3

Hope that makes sense, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

x

I'm sure you can pay by wire transfer, and you can organise that at your bank. Other than that you might be able to get a bankers cheque for the correct amount in dollars - I'm sure one of the brides that has done this will be along shortly to confirm!

Im sure a uk bride will pipe in, but why not email DFTW? Usually I would assume you would make the conversion yourself and send USD but I'm sure they can tell you the usual process. Good luck!

Thanks both.

I decided to give DFTW a call in the end, unfortunately they dont accept UK cheques so have sent me the details for how to complete a wire transfer.

I think i may have to just take the plunge and order a credit card!! x

I'm pretty sure you can pay on your debit card, I can't remember if we paid on credit or debit, but it just says credit card on USA forms because they don't have debit cards the same way we do.

My visa debit from Barclays is treated like a credit card with online transactions and over the phone, so maybe you could use that? Only one way to find out, give them a call and try?

Hi again sweetie
I know I paid nothing to DFTW as I was a S/D bride, but I paid absolutely everything with my pre-loadable Visa card from 'Fairfx'. I have used this card for many years to pay US bills (including my DVC annual dues), and for my spending money for trips to the US. You get a very competitive rate of exchange when you load money on to it and it is used just like a credit card. You just don't have to become involved in the whole 'cc agreement' thing. Highly recommended - I have never had any problems and all my payments go through with no problem and the UK section of these boards (and the 'other' UK boards) seem to have many satisfied 'Fairfx' clients posting.

Good luck!!!

Hmmm i did wonder whether our debit cards are different!? I think i may just fill in the form with my debit card details and see what DFTW says when they try to process it. I just want this contract and deposit in the post asap so i know we are sorted!! x

Thank you Tinkerbell i have looked at the fairfx cards several times and pondered! I have a credit card coming in the post but i am very dubious so i probably wont activate it.
I will have a read up about the fairfx card tonight, thank you x

I cannot use my UK debit card for my DVC ADs (not sure why) which is why I have my 'FairFX' card
