I know layoffs are worse, been there done that, but paycuts still stink. 25% gone!

I'm sorry. That's gotta be tough.

I was pink slipped in June. Still not working. My husband hasn't had a raise in over 5 years. It's been kind of tough, but I know we are better off than many.

I got furloughed last year, and betting we will again this year, ugh! At least they allowed us to take our three days of furlough at intervals of 2 hrs at a time, but still it hurts! I know how you feel, I am a single mom of three, receiving a little over $500 a month in child support for all three, two which I still pay child care for, ugh!

Yes, paycuts aren't fun, but neither is being laid off. I was out of work for 15 months before I found another job. The company I went to work for hasn't given out raises in over 5 years. I am just happy to be working again.

2 years ago 30% pay cut for dh. 2 weeks ago laid off. They both stink. Here's hoping for better times!

I feel ya, our income went down almost 20,000 a year for the last few years. There is light at the end of the tunnel though, DH is starting a job that is double the cut salary. We were hanging by our fingernails...

Prayers for those of you without jobs and with pay cuts, it really really sucks to say the least. :flower3:

I may be looking at a paycut myself. Oddly, I AM the boss...but we may be losing some very important clients in a couple of weeks. It will be very devastating to the business as a whole. We are praying for some new clients.

Tough times for a lot people.

A little over 2 years ago DH was given the choice of being let go or taking a paycut of 40%. We talked about it and opted for the paycut because at least it meant having a job. Having a job meant, still means, having insurance and the hope that when the economy turns around he can work back up to where he was in terms of pay.

As tough as it's been at least it's a paycheck when so many other people don't even have that. :guilty:

My husband is a commisioned sales manager. In 08 I think it was. He saw a 50 pereent loss of income from August to september and was laid off from a Job he had been the same company 11 years whit is a lifetime in his industry. He refused to even file for unemployment so it sucked what we had real fast! It took tilke January to find another job. We were scraping by since his industry took a huge hit. He got promised a guaranteed rate at another store back with the old company with closer commute time and took it, the got lured to another store with a guarantee taht they ended up backing out of unannounced 6 months later. Then his work was taken over and he transferred to another store in the same company where he was for a couple of months then bam hot laid off again just as we were seeing the light of day! He had another job by the time he got home nut ulitmately decided recently to go navk to the one with the lon commute.

y point is that it sucks and it isn't easy but to hang in there. We still are nowhere near what we made before this mess started! But we are better off sort of now then we were in fall and winter of 08 - 09.

I know a neighbor that took around 100k a year pay cut! That hurts big time.

I am so, so sorry for those with job problems. A cut of 25% is such a heavy burden and I see someone else here had 30% cut.

My sister went through a similar thing a year and a half ago, and in addition to the pay cuts, raise freezing, and hiring freeze, they took away their vacation pay. If you wanted or needed time off, it was granted but without any pay whatsoever. Because of the hiring freeze, those who did find other jobs left those behind in the lurch with more work to do. Things for her are turning around now, so there is hope.

Yep. Paycuts suck. It seems that with a lay-off, you starve. But with a paycut you still starve, just more slowly.

Hang in there, though. The economy should be turning around soon!

Hang in there. DH took a 40% pay cut 2 years ago and he went back to full pay 2 months ago. It was real tough but we did have insurance and the hope that he would return to full salary. He hasn't had a raise in 8 years though so we are hoping for one by the end of the year.

yes, yes they do. Then have your state income tax go up 66%, your insurance premiums go up and the awesome gas prices,,,all while trying to recover from savings/investments going belly up a few years ago oh yeah!
Stay strong.

Yes, paycuts do stink.

To everyone that's struggling ~

I hope it gets better for you soon.

Sorry to hear that, beaucoup, and all others here who are hurting. Good wishes and prayers a turn around is around the corner for everyone.'s

No pay raise for 10 years. Then took a 5% pay cut this year and will be laid off effective Friday. Yipeee! Can't wait for the economy to turn around.
