Used the AP discount to get a week at OKW for family.

Is there a limit on how many gift cards I can pay down the balance of the room with at check-in? Trying to not have the brunt of the balance of the room just go on my CC when we check in, so I’d rather buy $500 increments over the next few weeks leading up to the trip and combine as needed.

Are you planning to pay with gift cards when you arrive or in advance of your trip? I was at the Grand Floridian for a work event and my CC was charged at 12:01am on check in day. When I went to check in at noon and give them my work CC I was told the charges were already on my CC on file. It wasn’t a big deal I as my company reimbursed me when I got home. I’m not sure if this is the norm as this is the only time I had not paid off my trip before arriving. I just don’t want you to get stuck with gift cards.

You can call and make payments as you go so you do not have to pay at check in. Hold on to the cards in case you cancel though. I tend to mark them after use to know what I paid with it. I have been lucky with not having waits more than 15-20 minutes so my room is either paid off or only have a small amount to my card.

There's no limit, but I would recommend calling in and paying down your balance ahead of time. Your card on file will be charged at midnight the day you check in. So if you want to pay at check in with gift cards, they are able to reverse that charge and use the gift cards, but it may take a while for that charge to be removed from your card. It's better just to pay ahead of time and avoid that all together. You should be able to call in and use an automated system to do it, so you don't need to worry about any crazy wait times on the phone.

What number would we cal for that? I tried a number I found on Disney’s site earlier today, and it wasn’t going through once I put in the reservation number

I wish they would offer a way to pay down your room-only balance online....like they do with packages. So strange they haven't figured that out yet....but it is Disney IT.... When did they start charging at 12:01am on check-in day? Had a room only at WL last month and I was able to split the room charges between two cards.

Same here. I paid most of the balance at check in with gift cards (room only) and the remainder of the balance I paid at check out (at WL). I was going to do all it at check in on my credit card, but the FD said I could do it upon departure. I had a money remaining on my gift cards, so I went to the FD the night before we left and used them to pay down the balance.

It should be 407-934-7639
And to add the hours to reach a CM concering existing Room Only reservations to make a pre-payment on your reservation balance before your arrival date at 407-934-7639 Monday thru Friday 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

If you want to use Gift Cards at Check in at the Front Desk (FD) you will have already been charged the balance of your Room Only (RO) reservatoin early in the morning of your arrival date if you have a credit card attached in MDE for your reservation. It is an automated process.

The FD CM can reverse the charge and accept your Gift Cards as an alternative. You can also pay using Gift Cards during your stay to reduce your outstanding Folio that is creating holds on your CC on file if you decide on Resort wide charging privileges to your room Folio.

The automated system will charge on your on file CC very early on your checkout day. But again you can always go to the FD and have them reverse the charge and take the final balance in Gift Cards.

Nope, not the case, at least for me. I was at the WL less than a month ago on a rooms only reservation. Upon arrival, I asked about paying the balance and that I wanted to pay partially by gift cards. The FD CM said it was fine, printed me out a folio, it showed the one night deposit I had paid. Nothing else was on it, my credit card on file had not been charged. I gave them some gift cards I had with me (I had accidentally left a few in my locked luggage that was with Bell Services), so there was still a remaining balance after the gift cards were applied. I said they could charge my credit card right then for the rest of the amount due. The CM told me it was not necessary and I could pay at departure by whatever means I wanted and if I did not go to the FD the day prior, it would be charged to my card. That was fine with me. The day before we left, I still had a gift card, so I went to the FD after MNSSHP and paid part of the remaining balance with it and then on the overnight my credit card was charged for the rest.

When the online payment option first came out, it actually was on both package and RO. I was able to use it for 1 trip, and thought it was great, but then it was removed from RO after only a couple of months and never seen again. It use to be that as soon as the resort rolls their computer system over to the new check-in day (real early in the morning), all balances are charged to the CC on file. Now, I believe they only charge one night and you still have a balance to pay. But it's nice to pay it off early because it's great to know that there is no balance when you start your trip:) Another tip is to use https://www.disneygiftcard.com/ to combine GCs onto 1 GC up to $1,000 each, this way it is a lot easier when calling in your GC payments. It was a pain when our balance was $2000+ and having to work with the CM on making payments with a bunch of $50 & $100 GC's, I felt sorry for the CM.
