Has anyone ever come across/ organized a supply/ food locker or anything to this effect?
We hate to waste anything/ and want to make sure that things don't go to waste/...
would we [you] organize it through guest services or through the DIS??
The logistics might be a little awkward to get this going....

any thoughts/ previous experiences on this matter

The couple of times I had left over items that I could not take with me, I went to the front desk area, found someone checking in and offered the items to them.
I have also, received items in this same manner.

That's a good idea! Noted for future use!

I've use a facebook group DVC leftovers, people post what they have left and arrange to hand it over, they also have strollers that are passed on to the next person.

I don't know if linking is allowed. I'm a member of DVC free cycle on Facebook. Sometimes it works other times there's no overlap with people. The one thing I don't do, which some do, is leave or transfer goods through Bell Services for others to get later. I worry that will eventually this will cause us to have to pay for using bell services to transfer during spilt stays.

Any other ideas?

I think one would have to connect with others traveling within same time frame to hand items over. I know there is a monthly sign up sheets. You could pose the question on those sites. I know it's not a big deal but I plan on bringing a night light at WL and will be leaving on Nov. 1 - I am more than happy to leave it at the front desk, just PM me if you're interested.

On the facebook boards, there really isn't pre-planning. It's more people will post (when they are packing up) where they are and what they have. Then a person will say that they want it and they make arrangements to meet. Most of the time it's WDW resorts, but sometimes there will be beach toys and such at Aulani. It's a great idea to help reduce waste.

Do you have the link to the FB?

I've also seen people post their "left overs" here for the taking. If no one takes it, the staff does. I can confirm that for sure as last month we were at WL and a mouse keeper was pushing a huge cart FULL and I mean full of stuff that was left in the villas. She dropped a few things and we helped her put them back on the cart. DH asked what happened to them. She said they go back to the staff break area and they all take from it. She offered us some gatorade from the cart which we did thank her and took one bottle to be polite.
So it won't go to waste unless it's opened. Then it's trash.

Let me throw out a question to the DVC community;
Is a DVC [private] Facebook page needed {pay if forward....supplies/ food [hate to waste]}
so a list at each property on what maybe available?
Just a thought....
