DW and I are 2nd guessing our dining ressies in Epcot and would like your opinion.

The day we are at Epcot we have lunch reservations at Coral Reef where we plan to use our TS credit.

In addition, we have dinner ressies at San Angel Inn where we plan to pay for our meal.

After reading other threads regarding the food & service at San Angel we are 2nd guessing this decision.

Should we cancel the San Angel dinner ressie and instead take advantage of our CS credit at one of the many Epcot pavilions instead? There are so many other options that paying for a meal at San Angel seems almost silly at this point.

What's your opinion? :confused3

Personally San Angel Inn is a must do for my family, but that said I don't know if I would encourage paying for a table service. If you are in the mood for Mexican they have a cantina right outside that is a CS. The food is more typical of what most people expect - tacos, quesadilla, enchilada or burrito (can't remember which one), nachos I think. There is a good amount of good served for a CS.
Lotus Garden is also doing a counter service while their restaurant is being renovated, so if you like chinese food you may want to try that.

I would cancel your coral reef and have lunch at San Angel.

I say do both! I love San Angel Inn. Its a must do for me. Coral Reef is a fun experience as well. And the atmosphere at both can't be beat. I say, go for it. I have never been impressed with the food at the Cantina - its more fast food mexican (think, pricier taco bell - nachos with cheese sauce, etc). The food at San Angel is (in my opinion) higher quality, more of what you would expect from a sit down restaurant. And the nachos there rock! :thumbsup2 Check out the menu on all ears - there are some interesting choices to choose from.

AAGGGHHHH!!!! It's.all.too.much!! :scratchin

Seriously, though, thanks for the replies. We still don't know what to do... If only all of life's quandaries were like this!!

I would keep the Coral Reef and cancel at San Angel. We had a horrible experience at San Angel and it is the one place we won't go back to (I know, every restaurant can have an "off" night, but sometimes the experience just ruins the restaurant for you for all time).

Epcot has fabulous counter service places - the Land Pavilion has Sunshine Seasons food court which has a great variety. United Kingdom has great fish and chips. I would skip the walk-ups in Mexico and China since they're essentially food I can find pretty easily about 2 miles from my house. But my personal favorite is the counter service place in Morocco around World Showcase, Tangieriene Cafe. The shwarma platters and sandwiches are maybe my favorite food in all of Epcot.

In addition, from your post it makes it sound like you have lunch and dinner ressies on the same day. You will be spending a lot more time eating at Epcot than doing anything else. I usually plan on about 2 hours for a table-service meal, by the time you include the wait for your table to be ready. I personally would never do more than one sit-down meal per day. But if you're a "foodie" and the dining at Disney is the major reason you go, then obviously you have a different priority.

Ha ha, we're in the same boat. Lunch at Coral Reef and Dinner at San Angel Inn. Think we'll see what we are in the mood for that day and cancel the other one! Can't do too TS in one day.

Good luck with your decision, let us know what you decide!

PS If you do decide to cancel one and do a counter service I vote for Tangierine Cafe in Morocco - yummy.

We looove San Angel - but we are having the same debate. We have lunch ADRs for Coral Reef since I think DD would just love the restaurant (she has a thing for water). Not sure if we would be that hungry for dinner, if we go another day I don't know where to book - EPCOT has the BEST restaurants! I can't decide...

I would do Coral Reef for dinner and pay OOP for San Angels as it would be a cheaper OOP expense but you can still do both.

We have done San Angels and we enjoyed it.

Lunch at Coral Reef and Dinner at San Angel is all we could get. We wanted the reverse, but it was already booked (we booked as soon as we could!)

The pp that mentioned 2 TS meals in one day might be spending too much time at restaurants brings up a good point. Most likely we are going to keep lunch at Coral Reef, cancel dinner at San Angel, and find good CS instead.

Thanks everyone!!
