I booked POR 11/8 to 11/14 through *******. I’ve attempted to upgrade to a monorail resort, **** is sold out. I called disney reservations and was unable to discuss any changes to my reservation, as t was booked through ****. I’m willing to pay the difference in costs between POR and, say Contemporary or Poly, however it doesn’t seem I can make any changes. Can anyone offer any recommendations?

If an agency is running an "exclusive" discount, it means they have reserved room blocks at certain resorts for a certain time period. If they are telling you they have nothing at a monorail resort under the discount, then that means your current reservations can't be upgraded because there is literally nothing in their room blocks to upgrade it to. However, the Walt Disney Travel Co. may still have monorail resort rooms in their general public inventory (either at rack rate or any general public discounts). If that's the case and you want to switch resorts, you would need to cancel out the "exclusive" rate and book the room at a Walt Disney Travel Co. rate either through the TA or through WDW. Your "exclusive" discount cannot be transferred to a room in WDTC inventory, though. I would contact your TA, tell him/her you want to stay at a monorail resort and ask for a best-price quote even if it means looking at WDW general public discounts if available.

Thanks for the reply, makes sense. We received such a great deal from **** for POR, I think it’ll be cost prohibitive to change at this point. Really appreciate your response.

You can always ask at POR's front desk about the cost of upgrading.

If you booked with a travel agent, only the travel agent can discuss and make changes to your itinerary. You can request upon arrival to be changed to a different resort and pay the difference, if there is availability. Or, you can just cancel the reservation you have, and rebook with the same TA, or book on your own through Disney at wherever you really want to stay.

If the resort is sold out (which is likely on those dates based on everything I've read), you won't be able to pay to upgrade because it's already sold out.

I just looked on MDE, the only Deluxe showing any availability for those days that I saw was Animal Kindgom Lodge, savanna view, $549/night. It doesn't look like Disney has any availability at any monorail resort for those dates (but changing dates might yield a different result)

I would think the resorts are all booked, my friend tried to get a last minute room and all she got was ASsports. Everything is full, but the most expensive rooms.
We love POR, it’s one of our fav resorts.
