Pay for DVC with Gift Cards?

Hrm, Target is going to get really wary about me then if I can't use the Disney CC to pay off the loan in full. But 5% is better than 2%.

You may already know, but if you have a credit card that gives points or cash back at places that sell gift cards, you could purchase Visa gift cards for x% back, use those to buy discounted target gift cards at sites like cardpool.com (another 2-6% back), and then use the target gift cards plus Red card to buy Disney gift cards at 5% off

For example: if you want to earn on your Disney CC to get 2% back, buy the visa gift cards at a grocery store or gas station. This would give you 2% + 2-6% + 5% back!

Interesting...I will have to investigate. I don't use my Disney CC much. I have the Capital One Venture which gives 2% back for travel. But, maybe there is a way to get even more!

I would be very uneasy about that simply because you could get stuck with Target Gift Cards since you are supposed to use the Red Card to get the 5% discount. Are you able to do that online or are you getting an exception in the store to allow it?

It's been at least a good year where you can't use Target GCs to buy other GCs like Disney GCs at Target stores. Been even longer than that where you can't use Target GCs to buy Disney GCs online. Also, that loophole where you could use your RedCard 5% off but you really paid with Target GCs have been closed for years (both online and in stores). You're better off using a cashback CC at a warehouse store like BJ's who sells Disney GCs at a discount or just using the RedCard for the straight 5% off if you do not have access to a warehouse store.

Thanks for the info. I think I’m going to sign up for the Target card to buy the GC each month to get the 5%. Just knowing I can save that is big, My dues are over $4k. That 5% is still a good bit of savings for me!

Definitely! I get % more from buying them at BJ’s with my cash back CC to pay my dues. Every bit counts!

Does anyone know if you can use multiple Disney GC to pay your annual DVC dues or is it ONE Disney GC per transaction? For instance, can I use (4) $250 GC to pay $1000 annual dues bill, or will DVC only accept (1) $1000 GC? TIA!

You can use multiple. You can also add one gift card to another gift card up to $1000 total and then just use one gift card. I think that there is a limit on how many you can use to pay the dues. I think it is 4, but I’m not sure. I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong. So if your dues is $3,900. You could use 16 $250 cards to make 4 $1000 cards then pay you dues.

4 at a time. But you can make multiple payments using multiple gift cards. I just paid mine using over about 2 dozen cards. It didn't make sense for me to consolidate them - it's less keystrokes. Consolidating them requires the card number and security code, paying directly only requires the card number. Buying $50 cards was also more of a discount than buying $500 cards..hence ending up with a dozen.

I think that when you had to call MS to use GCs, they had a limit of how many sets of numbers the CM could write down. Now that you enter them yourself, they don’t care how many you enter!
