Pay as You Go Wireless - Net10 anyone?

DFIL has finally come in to the 21st Century, expressing interest in wanting to have a mobile phone. He only wants it for emergencies and Pay as You Go is the best option.

Net10 looks like the plan for him. Anyone use their wireless service? I'm familiar with TracFone and how their program works. Is Net10 much different? Do you have to buy cards, punch in a gazillion numbers to keep the service activated?

I was just looking at Net10 and it is very similiar to Tracfone. You might also want to look at Cingular and Virgin Mobile.

DH has a Net10 phone. It's easy to use, good reception and no dropped calls unlike my plan with Cingular.

Net10 is the cheaper branch of Tracfone Company. From what I've been reading about it, it has lots of bugs in the program still and you really don't get much for the money you're spending anyway.

Tracfone may initially sound more expensive off the bat, but there are always bonus codes for extra free minutes each month, bringing the price way down. Like you get a bonus 100 free minutes PLUS 2 extra months of service for activating through a referral.
