I am planning quite a few months ahead on this. I have an iphone and my husband does not have a phone at all. When we go to Disney we will split up a little bit since my 10 year old will want to ride big rides and I will be with our 2 year old. This will probably be the only time he will use the phone.
I am going to assume that we more than likely will not hear the phone ring and/or hear each other talk so I want to be able to textSo, long story short, What phone to you recommend?

Straighttalk.com has good service and it is 30.00 for a month of service/1000 minutes of voice and 1000 texts. The phone is a Motorola and it is free. Allow some time to ship to you though it took about 4 days to arrive at my house. Just order about 10 days ahead but do not activate it until the day you leave that way you wont use up any time before you go. Also no contract and when you are done you can either save the phone for next time, sell it , give it away, or lend it out.

My DS has a Tracfone that we got at Walmart for $30 or so, and the minute cards start at $25. He texts with it, and you can get higher value cards for it.

I pay $9.99 for 1000 texts with AT&T GoPhone. I have android phones that I paid $100 each for, but there are flip style phones for cheaper. I have 3 android phones since these are our cell phones that we use all the time.

GoPhone is a little different than Tracfone or other phones you buy cards for. You upload money to the account and then purchase the calling/texting package you want. Now I can upload $10 (previously it was $15) so you can buy the $9.99 1000 text package and not have extra money on the account that you won't use.

1000/month each phone is more than enough for us since we basically just use them just to keep in touch between me, my wife, and our daughter. I don't use it to call on, though I do keep a bit of money on the account ($5) just in case we need to call and use the $0.10/minute plan. They are android as I said, but I don't do a data package. We play around on the phones on the internet and apps when at home on wifi.
