DH and I both have Sprint cel accounts, under his name to take advantage of his work discount. Right now, we pay about 35.25 + tax each for 450 min, unlimited texting (not pictures, just text), and free calls to/from any other Sprint cel. For about 30-ish more (total, not each), we can combine both lines into a family plan, which would give 1500 combined minutes (600 more than now), unlimited texting and data, and free calls to/from any other cel, regardless of carrier. The data would include gps and whatever Sprint tv channels are offered for free.
We've never had a data plan, and never shared minutes before. DH can talk like a schoolgirl on his cel, but to the same few people who are currently free on our plan. Is it worth it to add these bells and whistles and pay the extra $? I'm thinking it would be great to have while on vacation, but have lived without it for so long.... Does the data on a cel work the same as it does on a computer?

My family has the plan you are looking to upgrade to, and we all love it. I like you didn't think I would get into all the "bells and whistles", but I use all of the features available and have been really happy with it. It's nice to be able to check my email on my phone when someone is on the home computer.

I did drop my home phone though to justify the price increase, and I actually ended up saving $30 by not having the home phone, so for me it was well worth the upgrade,

We have the Everything Data plan and love it. We are family of three: me, DD 19, and DD 16.

If you can afford it, go for it. It's not an amount that would break the bank and it's really convenient being able to check your email on your phone, look up weather, use GPS, find out movie times, etc. Personally I am dropping my prepaid and going with Sprint soon. I miss being able to do all the "fun" stuff on the phone and Sprint if the most reasonable.

I'm pretty sure Sprint has the cheapest data plan out of any company. My hubby also gets a 27% discount and our final bill for 2 phones unlimited everything and 1400 minutes or something outrageous like that is about $118 per month(he has insurance on his phone also). That is free mobile to mobile also (any mobile phone, not just Sprint). I think some companies do/or are considering limiting the amount of data you can use, but thus far, not Sprint.

I've become so dependent on using my data plan on my Sprint phone I don't know how I would give it up. I lucked out though and when I got my last phone I was tempted to switch over to another carrier because of some coverage issues in my area. To keep me as a customer they gave me a great plan on the two phones I have. I think I have something like 1300 shared minutes, unlimited data usage, and unlimited texting for about $40 a month after my 20% work discount. I'd love to get a new phone when my contract is up in April, but I know I'd have to give up my sweet plan to go over to the newest technology. I plan on hanging on to my phone as long as it keeps working. :)

If your already a customer of Sprint, it may be worth it to see if their retention department will make your plan a bit sweeter. I didn't intentionally set out to get the deal I did, but it was too good for me to pass up.

$30 more total for a data plan for both of you is an incredible deal. Having said that, you dont need a data plan unless you plan to use the web browser and email features. $30 times 12 is $360 bucks a year.

:lmao:
I'm the opposite. I have sprint and was thinking of switching to Verizon but all the nice phones they have force you to get the data plan. I have yet to use any data feature on my phone and hate wasting 30 bucks a month. I never check my email on my phone and why should I be forced to give them $360 bucks for a unwanted service?

They do offer 3 phones you can get without the mandatory data charge but they are crappy looking phones.
