Wednesday 26th September
As we enter the final few days we always try and visit each park, since it is evening extra magic hours at Animal Kingdom and we love the park after dark, that's where we are heading today. We arrived at the park about 10:30am and headed straight for Finding Nemo: The Musical since we hadnt managed to catch it on our two visits last week. The show is out of this world.
After Nemo, we decided to head to Africa via Expedition Everest to pick up a Fastpass for later. The monkeys were out showing off as we went past so we grabed a few photos, then the heavens opened. We dived into the DVC sales area near the entrance to Asia whilst the rain subsided. After about 20 mins it eased off so we set off again for Africa, we got as far as Flights of Wonder and down came the rain again. Eventually we managed to get to Africa without getting too wet and into the queue for Kilimanjaro Safari. As expected the rain had brought out loads of animals.
By now we had missed our Fastpass window for Everest so we decided to go for Lunch at Pizzafari. We both had the Hot Italian Sandwich with our usual desserts of Chocolate Cake and Apple Pie. We decided to skip the Lion King show and catch it later during EMH. Instead we headed back to Asia and went on the Maharaja Jungle Trek to see the tigers and bats (Ruth wont go in the bat area, so I have to go in by myself).
After the Jungle Trek, we were just in time to watch Flights of Wonder before heading back to Africa to catch the parade.
As soon as the parade finished we dived into Kilimanjaro Safari for our second ride of the day before normal park closing. We decided to go for a drink before heading to Camp Minnie-Mickey for the EMH showing of The Festival of the Lion King. After the show we headed round to Dinoland USA to feed Ruth to the T-Rex on Dinosaur, she survived again (her screams must have scared it off). Finally we ventured back to Asia and rode Expedition Everest a couple of times in the dark.
We had a look in a few of the shops on our way out of the park (I love AK merchandise) before driving over to Old Key West for a return visit to Olivias Café, one of my favourite places to eat. We both went for exactly the same food as we had last week (for pictures see day 3). After another great meal, we headed back to our resort.
Tomorrow Magic Kingdom.
