Yes, there are four bedrooms. You are correct, there would be 8 people. Keep in mind that with more people you DO NOT get more shelf space or fridge room. I was in a 3 bedroom and our kitchen was packed. I actually had to keep food in my room for a period of time because there was no room in the kitchen.
I think 7 roommates would be fun, but it's better for people with cars because you'll have to go to the grocery store more often and will have to buy fewer items each time you go.
I was in a Patterson 3BR. I don't know if we all were light eaters or whatever, but we all had enough kitchen room. I hope for a 3BR again if I'm accepted for Fall 2009.

Haha... I actually had HEAVY eaters. Two didn't have cars so they bought food for more than a month at a time. A lot of them really liked frozen dinners so our freezer was so packed that when you opened the door things actually fell out... consistently.

I was in a four bedroom in The Commons and yes, it was packed :/
We each got half a shelf in the fridge! The freezer was always just overpowered by two of my roomates that had, like, whole chickens sitting frozen in there. Ahhh nightmarish for a vegetarian!
But we did have cupboards for canned goods and things, and two pantry closets! Not sure if it's the same in Patterson, but there was definately more than enough dry goods space for me. I was mostly just bummed about not being able to store as many veggies and yogurt and ice cream as I wanted!
Other than the fridge space thing, I loved having seven other roomates. One became my best friend everrr and I loved hearing my Norweigan roomates conversing with each other! The rent was a bit cheaper which was nice and there was always someone to chat with. There wasn't a feeling of invasion of privacy or crowding at all - the 8 person apartment was pretty large and I could aaaalways just go hide in my room if I didn't feel like watching someone butchering a large frozen chicken for supper!
