:cool1: What can you tell me about this place? In all of our visits,we have never tried them.Is it kid friendly, for an 11 and 15 year old? What exactly are the Hurricanes???We are ther at HRH next week! :rotfl2:

We love Pat O'Brien's. We don't eat there all that often, except for appetizers and burgers, which have always been good.

Patty O's has three sections: 1. The Piano Bar -- dueling pianos. You will be asked to escort your kids out by 9 pm, but the show is a bit more family friendly before then.

2. The bar across from the piano bar. Not kid friendly. You can get food there, but it's pretty much just a bar.

3. The courtyard where full dinner is served. This is family friendly, even after 9. The courtyard is of course outside, and features a big fountain.

I don't remember what is in the Hurricanes. However, they are very good, and when you buy a Hurricane, you are also buying the glass. They'll rinse it out and package it up for you to take with you.

Don't forget to get some "beignets" for dessert.....they are delicious!! (a cross between a powdered donut & a funnelcake....yes, w/ the powder!) :thumbsup2

I LOVE Pat O'Briens... I just was at one last night!

They are usually a three-in-one bar setup, with a piano lounge, a TV/sports bar and a patio with fire fountains. I personally prefer the patio.

Hurricanes are the devil. Drink one, and you'll be sloshed. They come in BIG cups. Drink two, and you can't walk straight. Drink three, then throw up in the floor of your hotel lobby. Or maybe that was just me? I've since learned to moderate my Hurricane intake. I can maybe drink two over the course of an evening, with a water in between.

But they are SOOO good! I've got some pics from my birthday this year:

Ooooh, O'Brien's :goodvibes :goodvibes

Completely agree with MsScott! Three is utter madness. I once -- emphasis on once -- tried three and had to do a timeshare presentation at seven a.m. the next morning. I smelled like a hurricane no matter what I tried until about two the next day.

They're massive and made with an awful lot of rum. I make them at home with the O'Brien's mix you can get in the store. It's a 1:1 ratio of "juice" (powder mixed with water) and rum. I'd have to say with ice, made according to the directions on the O'Brien's mix, in one of their keepsake glasses, we run about 8 oz of rum per drink. Figure a "strong" normal drink for most folks is 2 oz of liquor.

My avatar has one shown. My kid brother is behind one for perspective. Notice the coke his girlfriend is drinking for a size comparison. Very yummy and very potent. Best cocktail in Orlando for the $$$ (from stricly a "buzz" standpoint).

Cheers! Only a few more weeks before we get some ourselves :)

:rotfl2: Now I'am really thirsty for a Hurricane(the kind in a glass).Tuesday will not get here soon enough!!I will drink a couple for you guys! :rotfl2:
