Yes, but there were technical issues, so no one was able to check in until 4.5 hours later.
Did you have any issues during check-in?
Yes, check in wasn't working for anyone on that day. It finally started working after 4.5 hours of trying. Luckily I'm in Australia, so I just spent the afternoon refreshing until it worked. Most people just went to bed and then tried again in the morning.

Positive :
At Southampton Horizon Terminal they are very well organized. It is the newest cruise terminal and everything is well laid out. They set up queues outside the terminal with the various PAT times.
Negative : No one could connect to DCL Guest Wi-Fi while in the cruise terminal waiting to board after check in. This may have been a once off on the day issue, but something to be aware of if you need to double check MDR table numbers and dining times with your party before getting on the ship.
Anything you think new cruisers, or cruisers new to that port or terminal, should know?

  1. The big thing to know for American passengers is that you do not tip the baggage porters at the terminal. They are employed by Southampton Port Authority and its just their job to take the bags and load them onto the ship.
  2. Do not worry if you do not get luggage tags before your cruise, the port staff have a table set up near the checked bag drop off area for anyone who does not have luggage tags.
  3. For those driving to the port, ABParking is the official Southampton Port Parking. They will assign you the correct carpark for your ship and cruise, as there are multiple terminals at Southampton and each terminal has its own car park.
  4. For anyone who wants to stay a night pre cruise or post cruise in Southampton there are multiple hotels in various budget ranges within 15 minutes walk to the cruise terminals. I have now done 3 cruises out of Southampton, so see my trip reports or send me a PM if you need advice about a hotel in Southampton or sightseeing in Southampton.
  5. For international passengers cruising out of Southampton, the main thing to know is that Southampton is not near Heathrow or Gatwick, the two main UK international airports. You will need to arrange some sort of long distance transport, either train, bus, private car service or hire a car. Send me a PM if you need help with this.
  6. There is a small regional airport at Southampton, where you can get flights from other regional UK airports and Dublin, Ireland.
  7. It is not a Disney exclusive cruise terminal but they do their best to Disneyfy the embarkation process. The port staff are wearing Disney uniforms, there is Disney themed signs , some port staff have Mickey Hands and will High Four, and there is a pre cruise ship photo op for any one who wants it. It will feel different to embarking at the Florida Cruise Terminals but it will still be a Disney experience.
