Interesting discussion in my cruises fb group, curious to hear the opinions of others.

A patron has the kickstart your cruise beverage experience booked, but due to being a first time cruiser their selected port arrival time is after the event.

Many are telling this person to cancel the beverage experience because they wont let them in, wont make it and theres no way disney wont refund them if they miss it. Some said call the cruiseline and ask, I said show up early and show them you have it booked.

What do you all think? Calling obviously seems like the first smartest option ahead of time, but cancelling it, really?

I mean, you can always call and ask to see what DCL says. Alternatively, she can keep the tasting and keep checking back to see if she can get an earlier PAT/boarding group (I've done it before).

But I highly doubt DCL will let her on the ship early just for that, nor do I think they'll refund her if she doesn't make the tasting. She knows she won't get on the ship until after the tasting, so if she chooses to keep it that's on her, not DCL.

Out of curiosity, what time is the tasting and what time is her PAT? I do find it a little odd DCL would offer a tasting at at time when a lot of people are not on the ship yet . . .

Its a dream/fantasy specific one time offered tasting, so a dozen or so people get a shot at booking it and doing it. I think its at 12:30.

I've never heard of Kickstart Your Cruise, and I've sailed on both the Dream and Fantasy. I'm on the Fantasy in November and just looked, they have a Kickstart your Day tasting available at 12:30, 1:30, and 2:30 on embarkation day (not offered any other day on our 7-night cruise).

I know you're not the person with this issue, just passing it along, but if there are multiple offerings on your cruise like there is for mine, then maybe she can rebook for a later one (or make a case to DCL to allow her in to a later one?).

I still agree calling is her best bet.

I would have them call. And even then be sure they get the answer documented, who they talked to etc.. I wouldn't take any chances myself. ;)

The ship policy for tasting is cancel 24 hours to get a refund. I would for sure call DCL, but remember the person on the phone is not on the ship. I would personally cancel. If they get on early, they can alway go to the bar and find out if there are any openings to grab.

If their port arrival time is after the event begins, then in order to make it to the tasting, they will not only need to be admitted to the port early, but will also need to board before their boarding group opens. Is this possible? Yes. Is it likely? That’s a different question.

I agree with the suggestions to call and get documentation if they are given permission to board early.
