Past Brides - Do you have any regrets?

Just wondering if any past brides have any regrets? ie, Not having castle photo shoot etc?

I just wish I had used STVS for video. I have nice photo's but would love to see the day all over again. I was in a daze that day I am sure, as I cannot remember what happened and when.

I would have liked the castle shoot, but still have my honeymoon photos which were at the castle.

I wish I had the Cinderella's carriage too. It is so pretty.

Anybody else?

Nope, I don't have a single regret about our Intimate wedding. The day was absolutely perfect, a fairy tale come true

The only thing I would have changed I couldn't. My mom would not be there except in spirit and there was nothing I could do about that

But everything about the wedding day was magical - everyone should get thier dream wedding day!

I only have two regrets. one is I wish the bridesmaids flowers had been bigger and I wish I had taken the time to really look at myself in the mirror before the ceremony. I put my dress on as my EM was telling me we had to go because I didn't want it to get wrinkled so I didn't get a chance to really look in the mirror and take it all in. I have the photos and video now but I wish I took the time by myself to just enjoy the months of picking my attire and how it all looked together.
It was the BEST day of my life.

Janine, I can relate to your post about being in a daze. I too was in a daze for our wedding day. We first renewed our vows on our 5th anniversary, and I cried because it was the first time I had actually heard our vows spoken by my husband! It was so wonderful to experience this most important part of our day all over again, with just the two of us and the minister. We were supposed to have a recording made by our church, but their equipment had broken the day before and the wedding coordinator did not tell me until after the wedding. She didn't want to upset me about something that could not be helped (wise choice). Just try not to let your regrets dampen the wonderful memories you do have. That just gives you something to look forward to down the line when one day you renew your vows! ~Ev

My biggest regret is that we chose the California Grill for our wedding dinner...just not our style and didn't feel the "magic".

I regret that I can't go back and do it all over again this year (and every year from now on.)

I really wouldn’t change much at all about our FTW. It really was a dream come true.

There are a few little things that I would do differently…

--I wish I had chosen slightly lighter colored roses. I wanted deep red roses, not bright red. The variety I had was called “Black Magic” and in person they were just perfect—a deep red, very rich in color. However, in my pictures they look very dark, almost black. In the video they look great though.

--I honestly can’t decide whether or not it would have worked out better to have my reception begin a little earlier. It was at the American Adventure Rotunda, so we had to have it late, but we could’ve started it a bit earlier, then gone outside for the Illuminations party in the middle of the reception. I didn’t want to interrupt the reception, so we had an Illuminations pre-reception. A lot of people ended up leaving the reception early due to the late hour, and I wonder if having the reception start earlier might have helped. I tend to doubt it though—the same people probably would’ve just left right after the Illuminations party if we had it in the middle of the reception.

--I wish I had just worn my tennis shoes the whole time. A friend of my mom had white Keds painted with our name and wedding date and a Mickey Mouse head. I wore them to the reception, but bought nice shoes for the ceremony (I was afraid my toes would show in the pictures/video if I wore the tennis shoes). Well, you couldn’t see my feet at all, so it would’ve been better just to save the money on the nice shoes and use the tennis shoes instead.

Hmm I have a couple they're not really regrets because the day was all smooth and everything was just wonderful, they're more things I would have done differently:

I would have cut the punch from the cocktail hour - hardly anyone drank it so it was a little wasteful on ingredients and money.

I would have done the staged exit in The Breathless.

Extended my reception by an extra half hour or an hour, I wasn't ready to stop dancing LOL

Well, I'm not sure if these are what you meant or not.

I wish we had ordered the personalized napkins. They're completely cheesy and I don't love them, but I think it would have been nice to get them. (I thought they were way too expensive for napkins and I honestly didn't have time to pick them out)

I wish I had someone making sure the photographer got some of my important shots. He missed very few of the really important ones and added plenty that I hadn't thought of, but he only took ONE picture of DH alone, 2 poses of me with MOH alone, no good full length one of us at the front of the church...etc. Minor things, but I would change them.

The reception-I wish I could have made like 3 of myself because it was so important for me to mingle that I only danced to 2 songs, kinda sad.

Well they say everything happens for a reason - I'm glad I met my Starter Husband he was a good guy but it didn't work and then subsequently I got to meet my real Prince - so it's all goo Jezebella, and now you have your Prince too

Hey Janine - if it makes you feel any better you'd have to wait so long for you video that it would be hard to use it for your recaps anyway {hug} perhaps you can have the video for the VR instead

So yeah I just wish we had gone all out and done The Breathless oh and my big dream wasn't so much Cindy's carriage because as you know it wouldn't have fit my theme but I really wished I had asked about Ariel's Landau (or whatever you call it) from one of the parades, now that would have been totally awesome. Can you read my mind anyone? It's saying "vow renewal, vow renewal, vow renewal" but I think my hubbies mind is saying "where's the money, where's the money, where's the money?"

Agreed--I went with Disney video and wish that I had gone with STVS or been brutally more detailed in my request list--never trust that because they are a professional they know what to do.

My dh and I were thrilled by our day and I try not to have regrets as I had a very smart english teacher that told me you could never predict what would have happened if you had taken a different path...but I really wish I would have found a way to have either a dessert fireworks party for the rehearsal dinner or for after the reception...

first of all, for those of you who have said that you the only thing you regret about your wedding day is the man you married...I SNORTED and choked on my diet coke! I LOVE the term "starter husband"!

secondly, I have to say that i am finding this thread extremely helpful!!! It's good to know what people wish they had done...I'm at that stage of planning where it's getting a little tiresome and the money just keeps adding up and even though we are still under the amount we had decided, there is still a lot to pay for and so I'm sort of feeling "Oh I just wish it were done already!" (off topic here a moment, my puppy is wriggling all over in my lap and i'm trying to type and he keeps stepping on the board and then jumping down to inspect a bit of fuzz on the carpet and then wanting up again and over and over it goes! exhausting! )

Anyhow, I know the wedding is going to go by so quickly and I don't want to miss a thing and I don't want to spend it feeling like I have to say hi to everyone there when the people I love best will be out on the dance floor with me...so I may say a quick howdy do, but I am so on that dance floor! And I'm going to EAT...people always say that the bride and groom never get to eat...at least I hear that in Jersey all the time...over here a lot of brides do end up doing that "must say hello to every single solitary soul here", probably b/c their parents paid for most of the wedding and there are certain expectations for etiquette to be followed...NOT ME!!! We are paying for this ourselves!!! I'm going to eat and drink and dance and have a BLAST! And I'm so glad that we are having a videographer so we can look back on the day!

The only consolation of the wedding going by so quickly is that we are going WDW for our Honeymoon!!! YAY!!!!

yep...mine was the "starter husband" as well for my intimate... but this time... 9 years later... I found the right one this time... No regrets on the actual intimate... Disney was incredible, everything was perfect!

There are several things I would do different looking back but the day was good which is what matters. As for all the things I would have done differently well Dh has promised that I can have a VR in the future so I'll make my changes then.
