So how long is it taking people to get new passports and renewals now? Am especially interested in knowing how long for minor passports (those under 16).

:welcome: to the DIS boards!

People have been reporting 4-6 weeks for all passports.

I'm thinking that alot has to do with where you live too. We are close to Phila which is a city that processes passports. Around here I've seen it at one to two weeks (without expediting). I have heard some people on the DIS state that they waited up to 4 weeks. At least it's nothing like the 16-18 week processing nightmare some had previously.

We just applied for our minor daughters passports on Saturday. I was told 4-6 weeks, however, our last passports for my husband and I came in less than 2 weeks. We live in Southern California, hope this helps...

We applied a little over 4 weeks ago and just got one book so far. We are waiting on 1 more book for my DH and the 2 cards for my kids. We're in MN.

It took 5 weeks for my daughter's. She is 2. This was even with a special circumstance. She is adopted from Vietnam, and doesn't have a US BC yet. I was pleasantly surprised.:)

I think they were clearing out all the backlog and really zinging them out there pretty fast for a while right before the laws changed (pre June 1st)

So now with lots of people applying at once (post June1st) it is back to the standard 4-6 weeks it seems from all reports I see on these and other boards. At least it is not like that huge backlog when they first announced the intention, that was a huge mess! (applied for one in midst of that!)

We finally applied for our youngest four children on June 12th, only thing we know so far is they have been received and are in process. So only 2.5 weeks so far.

don't "need" them at all for our upcoming September cruise just thought better safe then sorry if something did come up (flying home unexpectedly from out of country requires a passport book).

Also thought we might get lucky and get DCL to present them for us at a couple of ports for stamps (varied reports on thses baords about that tho).

It took me exactly 3 weeks to get mine. I was surprised it came so quickly!!!

FYI I applied for mine in the beginning of june!

We sent off for ours 2 weeks ago....hoping it will only take 3 weeks!! We live in Ky.

I submitted my 4yr DS and mine (renewal) on 6/2 and received my DS 3 weeks later and mine just yesterday..took 4weeks. So as of early June just after the passport rules changed they are still within the 4-6 range and some sooner. I still would submit my asap just in case.

I had to renew mine back in January of this year (2009). I got mine back in about 10-14 days. Surprised me!!!:scared1: I was figuring 4 weeks or so.

We just ot our second passport book today. A little over 5 weeks for that one and he is ex military so he thought it would have been faster. Still waiting on the 2 cards for the kids.
Though some people seem to be getting them fast, I wouldn't count on it. just be happy if you do. :goodvibes

I think I'm being bad too. I'm hitting up my non-parent friends to think about traveling w/ me somewhere. Ireland is coming up a lot. wink wink ;)

I'm glad this thread popped up. We just got my son's passport (he's almost 4) yesterday, about 2.5 weeks after we applied for it. I have not yet received my renewal passport though, which I mailed the same day, but my son's went through our city clerk's office. I was very pleased with the service.

In IL we applied 6/4 for 2 adults 2 minors. Today is 7/3 nothing yet. Cruising Dec 3 -first Disney cruise. Received all four July 7. And later in the week we all received our birth certificates back.

We applied for 4 passport books on June 6th. We got all 4 of them in the mail today so it's been a little less than 4 weeks.
