PassPorter for DL

I am wondering if anyone here has used the PassPorter for DL. I was on the PassPorter website and see that it is on clearance for $4 (I think because it was published several years ago and might not be all that current - looks like 2006).

Does anyone think it would still be worth it for a total newbie to DL?

I have read a lot of the super threads here and there is great info but I still feel like having information in print might be helpful.

Any thoughts?

I am wondering if there is any book that is recommended?

Part of the problem is that I just feel like I need to have all the information compiled in some sort of organized manner that I can keep on reading through and figuring out how to make this vacation work for us.

If not a book, do people use touring plans to figure out how to tackle each park each day?

If you want a book. I like the Unofficial Guide to Disneyland. The 2012 edition is just $10 on Amazon right now. I bought the 2011 version for my honeymoon just over a year ago and it's great. It covers everything. It also includes some great touring plans and offers a discount to the touring plans.com site.

I bought 3 books. I love the Unofficial Guide, Birnbaum's and Passporter. I know that Passporter is old, but I love the planning guide and pages. It's nice to go back years later and go through the book and remember the trip.

I agree totally!! I also have all 3 and love reading them however the Dis is great for the most up to date info! The books are nice but as we get closer to Carsland opening I will really be relying on the Dis for current info.

I really like the Passporter books for giveing a great overview of the resort, however, a 2006 edition (which really means it was written in 2005) is just going to be too out of date to be of much use. DCA has undergone major changes in that time. You will have misinformation because things listed in that book no longer exist and things that have opened recently will be missing.

Not worth the cost for such an out of date book. As far as I know there is not an updated version for Disneyland.

Thanks everyone for the advice. We will pass on the PassPorter book even though it is on clearance - don't want to be reading wrong information that is old.

I will have to find something that newer and more accurate.

I may also look into a touring plan but am concerned about how much they will help us because DS has medical issues that really dictate most days in the park and flexibility is the key to a successful trip.

Maybe I will just have to start printing out information from here and making our own binder of info.

Use the most recent books from the library.

I did get the old pass porter last month, but that's for the forms and pockets. I have a spiral book and just wanted those things for cheaper than it normally costs.

But for info, it's just too old for quite a lot. And remember, any guidebook is using info at least six months old anyway, so they were using 2005ish info for that edition to begin with. And even the most up to date one you can find is still possibly problematic...reading the most recent at the time books for our first big trip in 2007, the books still talked about an entrance to DCA from PPH, not the one from the Grand but another one...and they were also telling us to go to the Ugly Bug Ball in bugs land...both absolutely NOT in existence by the time our trip rolled around.
