Hi i was wondering if anyone can answer a question i have, i was wondering if i could just have the father of the child i am applying for( we are separated but not legally) sign it and i fill out all the restincluding the signed at and the date signed? he has tried to fill it out 4 times and has numerous mistakes and is blaming the form lol. i just don't want to go ahead and do it and then they reject the application,
Thanks

That's what I do - fill out everything and point out where my husband needs to sign. My block letter printing is much neater than his. Has never been an issue in the past for getting forms completed, and I just filled out DS's passport application that way.

You can fill out the form online. The system checks for completeness so there is less room for error. Just print it out and have it signed.

Yep.. I filled out my wife's as she hates forms.

All she had to do was sign in the box and sign and date it at the end we had no issues with doing that.

We just did our passports about 11 days ago and just got them back in the mail yesterday.

thanks everyone. It would take all year if i have him do it all lol. i wasn't sure if they would flag it if it had different writting then the signiture lol. I will just have him sign a couple( incase i make a mistake lol) and drop them off

Mine had about 5 different people's writing on it based on who verified it at service Canada. I have my shiny new passport sitting at home waiting to be used

I did just what you are thinking of doing, date and all. My ex just signed his name. They did call him though and when they asked if he was aware I was applying for the kids' passport and was he ok with it he answered in his usual wishy washy Charlie Brown answer - "I guess so".

When he told me that I almost flipped on him. I said talking to the passport people about permission to take the kids and get their passports is not the time to say I guess so! I did get them with no problem so it wasn't a big deal.

You will also want to make sure you get a travel authorization from him saying you have his permission to travel with the kids. Many people say they have never been asked for it at the border but I would rather be safe than sorry.
