OK, my family was going to plan a trip to Disney in the end of May- but we've kept putting off planning it to see if we should actually do something else...We do Disney every 10-13 months and we LOVE it, don't get me wrong. BUT, I think we are in need of a RELAXING all-inclusive vacation. I've got a few places picked out...we're excited.

SO, my girls have never had a passport before. We have their 'official' birth certificates and we are going to our post office (it's our 'legal' place to go register them in this town- since they are under age, they need to be 'registered at the official passport office' closest to us-)

We are sending it all off and doing it on Friday. I've been told different 'wait times' by a few people. We're expiditing them.

I know everyone has a different 'wait time' and it's never the same. How long did you wait if you've gotten one in the past 3-6 months or so? Did it help to expidite it? Did it make a difference?

I just submitted all of my paperwork at the post office on Friday March 5th, and just noticed my check was cashed yesterday, March 12th. At this rate i'd expect my passport will be here maybe within a week or so? Very quick!

My ds got his passport within a week. He made it in the last week of December 2009 and came the following week. He also applied at the post office.

He was expecting it to come 3 months later.

Wow that was fast!!

That was here in Houston.

Unless you have a trip planned international within the next 2 months I wouldn't bother expiditing your passport, it's a waste of money.

My partner got his passport in three weeks and I got my renewal in about a week and a half. When the change with trips to Canada first started passports would take about six weeks, but the times have definately decreased.

We have a family wedding coming up this summer in Canada, so basically the entire side of DH's family has sent for a passport in the last few months. SIL, BIL and Niece just got them this week and it was less than a 4 week wait for them. We sent ours off just over a week ago and they told us to expect them in 3 to 4 weeks. Hope this helps!

Thanks to all. I don't even think it sounds like we'll need to expidite it then, wow. I'm happy that I heard from you all. I'm excited (and RELIEVED) now. You all are great!

Processing passports rarely takes that long. There was a short period of time when they changed travel rules to where you needed a passport for travel to Mexico, Canada, etc and there was a rush to get passports. That is no longer the case.

I did my daughters passport (first time) on Feb. 18. It came yesterday so a little less than a month for us.

We applied for DS's passport at the beginning of January, and received it in about 3.5 weeks. Super quick.

I would not bother spending the extra for expedited service if you're not going anywhere until the end of May, if you apply for them in the next week or so.

I applied on March 3 at my city clerks office and the check was cashed on March 10. I thought it would take much, much longer to be cashed. We'll see when it actually arrives though. I did not pay to expedite it - I am not planning to go anywhere until maybe the summer so I was fine with the regular way.

I received my passport in exactly three weeks from the day I sent it. It was not expedited. It was the same for my DH's passport, even though we applied at different times.

We did ours on the 5th too and I was shocked when I saw the checked cashed on Tuesday the 9th. The person told us it would be about 4 weeks total.

We were worried about the mad rush to get in before the 11th when the costs went up. He said they were a little busy but we were the first to know about the rate increase.

We applied at the USPS.

We don't need ours until late summer.

We just went on our first cruise and had our passports expedited..we mailed them out on Feb 19th and received them back on March 4th, so it only took 13 days. The person at the post office told us that if you pay to expedite, they really pay attention to the date that you need them and they try their hardest to get them to you in time.
