Oh boy....
If I can give anyone a word of advice, it's this: Do NOT mail them in unless you really don't need them in 6 months or so. And.... Do NOT mail them in without having someone look them over.
I made the big mistake of mailing them in. I thought I had done everything right. Wrong.....
They were all (5) mailed on Dec 12. 3 of them have been returned. One because I forgot to check that I hadn't seeked any other citizenship prior to Feb 1977. One because the birth certificate is laminated (I hadn't read that it became invalid if laminated. My fault) and the last one returned because I needed the long form birth certificate for one of my son's instead of the card. I didn't know that if your child was born before you were married, you need to send the long form because it has proof of parentage. The card shows nothing...
Anyways... I've learned my question.
We are driving to the passport office on thursday and I will resubmit my boys info. I ordered their new birth certificates last monday and received them on wednesday (not bad....).
I've no idea what's happening to the other 2 passports. I kind of wish they'd return everything so I can do all our passports at the same time.
Good luck to everyone.
I cringe knowing that in 5 years, all of us that are receiving our passports around this time will once again have to tackle this situation.
