We just returned a few hours ago from the 7 night Western cruise! We had a fantastic time...(I'd be glad to answer any questions people new to cruising might have about this trip).
My DD8 wanted to bring her passport in to school to show the kids who don't have passports what they're like and how they get stamped, etc...since they have made ones in school that tie into a reading incentive program. Anyways...we wanted to have our passports stamped in the different countries on our trip. Grand Cayman was quite easy just going to the Gov't building that is very near the spot the tenders let you off (be aware that just because they SAY they open at 8:30am, doesn't mean they open at 8:30am...they are definately on Island time!! It was at least 9am before anyone showed up to work!!!). We thought it would be the same in Mexico, but it wasn't and we never saw any imigration office/gov't building to go to to get stamped. What we found out was that had we turned our passports in to Guests Services the morning we sailed into Mexico, we could have been stamped. As it turned out, Guest Services did get us stamped in the Bahamas. Just thought I'd let people who might be interested to know, that you can get your passport stamped if you just ask!! We're sorry we don't have Mexico....guess this means we'll have to go back!

Thanks for the info - didn't know that Guest Services could get your passport stamped in the Bahamas :( Guess we'll have to wait until next summer to finally get our passports stamped. :)

That's awesome... Thanks for the info. Hubby will be so excited. We have sailed 5 times on Disney and never knew this. We went to Disneyland Paris a few years ago and I thought we were going to get arrested at the ariport when hubby was handed his passport back and it didn't get stamped... He pormptly returned to the immigrations agent and said Um... the stamp... I was horrified. They stamped it (with a little attitude ;) ) and we went on our way...

too funny LB!

the first time i went overseas, germany, i was so bummed that they didn't stamp my passport. i was only 19, so was afraid to ask. security standing around with Uzi's can be pretty intimidating!

not now..i want that stamp!!

i have only had it stamped coming back into the U.S. without asking.

I know this is probably a dumb question...we don't have passports yet, but I was thinking of getting them for our cruise this summer. Do you get a stamp for each country, or for each port? We are going on the West Coast Cruise...3 ports, but all in Mexico. And do I understand correctly that we get another stamp coming back to the United States?

You will get on stamp for the country and it will have on it length of stay. If that length of stay has expired by the time you do your 2nd port they might stamp it again. As you come thru customs, immigration in the US they will stamp it as a re-entry. I actually didn't know that the bahamas stamped either, though!!! We have been several times and they have never stamped mine!!! Guess this time I will ask.
