Passport re-newal

DH's passport expires in Feb 2007.

We don't have another trip to the US planned as yet but I was thinking that maybe if our Standard Life shares are worth anything................

Anyway, my question is, if I send off his passport for re-newal, when we return from Italy, will he be able to still enter the US on the Visa Waiver programme with the new one

Alternatively, if we were to go in Jan, would he still be okay to travel on his passport - we'd probably fly with VA using our miles and money

I guess it really isn't something that's too important at the moment but the thought's niggling away at the back of my head!

DH and I are changing our passport when we return from hols in July as any pasport issued up until Oct 2006 can have just a digi pic and be machine readable after that has to be biometric so if delayed again there could be problems if the US don't extend the date again. To be honest best to renew soon as the passport office will add up to 7 months on if renewing early.

i would get it renewed asap

most destinations require at least 6 months left on your passport

My passport was due to run out next February, and as I was a bit worried if there were more changes due in Oct 2006, I decided to renew it about a month ago. I renewed mine on-line, I filled all my details in and they sent the form out to me about a week later and all I had to do was sign it and enclose a photo. The new passport took a week to 10 days to come and I was so relieved to get rid of my old 'poodle-perm' photo from my old one

I didn't realise you could do it online.
I'm going to wait until we get back from Italy though as I'm not sure what the turn around time will be this time of year

my wife has just had to renew hers due to her surname changing and she used the post offoce check and send service and it was back within 2 weeks

still cost us full price though even though she had nearly 5 years left!
