Since I already have a passport I was planning on using it rather than my birth certificate. However, I just realized my passport has my maiden name on it. Do I need to get a new one with my married name? Will I have to get pictures re-done and all that?

Also, DH has a passport but can't find it (grrrrrr). Is there some way to file a lost passport, or should he just get another one done?

Sorry for the silly questions, but I am really clueless about this! LOL

If you are in the uk the name on your passport has to match the name on your flight tickets / reservations, not sure about US , we also just apply for a new one in the event of loss / remarriage and you do have to send in proof of marriage , new photos etc, however i kept mine after my divorce and although i remarried still use my old passport, i just ensure that it matches my name on the booking so still valid. I also take along copy of divorce /marriage licence to be on the safe side. If you both have birth certificates that match DCL's requirements it may be easier this time to just use them. Good luck and happy cruising.

here is the state dept website to go to. This will be able to answer all your questions, timing may be your biggest issue, but you look like you have plenty of time. I would get your name changed and have your DH file a lost passport claim and have a new one issued. Passports are the best way to travel, but if you can't do that bring your marriange license, BCs and photo IDs. Good luck.

no silly questions, how do you find out if you don't ask :teeth:

I travel a good bit in Europe on business and faced a similar situation a number of years ago after I got married. I simply had my passport amended. You don't need to get another picture taken, just send in your current passport, a certified copy of your marriage certificate and the associated paperwork and fees to your nearest passport office. The fees have to be a money order because the U. S. Department of State doesn't take checks or credit cards. There is a page in your passport for amendments and your name change will be noted there. THe whole process takes about 4-6 weeks and your passport and license will be returned to you. If you need it done quicker, you can have it expedited. This costs about twice as much but it only takes about a week.

As for your DH, he'll probably have to apply for another passport. I know you can't get a renewal without surrendering your old passport.

HTH

When you go to get passport for hubby..the form has a block to check lost for his old one. You really should have one with your married name on it.
