Passport Questions

Google is of no help on these, hopefully someone might have the answer.

We're going out of the country in September. We have to renew our passports. However, the person making our arrangements needs our passport info now to book. When you renew does the date and place your passport was issued change?

For example, ours were issued by the San Francisco agency, but now we live near Seattle, so perhaps the place changes?

Are you going somewhere that requires you obtain a visa? Otherwise I am guessing they just need the info too book because the carrier is trying to cover themselves when people claim to have not known they needed a passport (like a cruise). It is possible that you will be unable to book though with passports that expire before the travel date. Can your TA not answer this?

Yes, the issue location and numbers are likely to change. Obviously the expiration date will as well.

My college aged dd had a university trip planned out of the country (the trip was last month). A year in advance the university asked for a copy of her passport info for making the plane reservations, etc. At the time her old passport had expired and we were in the process of renewing. I just told them the application had been made and I would provide it when it came in (which I did). My guess is that this information is given to the airlines and is part of the info collected for the Do Not Fly list.

Get the application process going, tell the travel agent it's in process, and give it to them when you can. I'm sure they'll work with you; they just need to get everything entered well before your flight, not at the last minute (at least that is my guess!). Good luck.

We booked overseas's travel (air, hotel) w/ no passports. We've since applied and will have them before we travel. We'll add the #'s when they arrive.

I just recently renewed my passport. It doesn't say the city, just the state and country... like mine says, Michigan, USA.

So your old one (they will mail it back to you, but it isn't valid) says California, USA, and your new one will say Washington, USA. There won't be a city.
