hi all, we are isiting DLp in September for 4 nights/5 days, my (uk) passport expires in october can i still travel with it or will i need to renew before we go? i am only asking because when we went to WDW a few years back we had to have 6 months remaining to travel, but maybe that's because it was a visit to the USA? thanks in advance.

There is no minimum passport validity requirement for France but you should ensure that your passport is valid for the period of your stay.

For France you should be ok with the length you have left but you can renew upto 9 months before expiry date ad get them added to your new passport.

My DD's Canadian passport expires in Feb/14 for our trip on August/13. I thought we needed at least 6 months passport validity from the day we return from abroad to Canada. Her passport is a few days short. At first I wanted to take the risk and gave it a try. However, I was afraid she would be denied entry. At last I renewed her passport and am so relieved I did. I have planned years for this Europe trip and I am taking no risk. Probably the passport requirement is different for UK residents. It's better to make sure that it is ok in your circumstances before taking any risk.

Have fun planning!

Thanks guys :) i think i will renew because come to think of it we will probably be visiting DLP in Feb 2014 too, so might as well...:thumbsup2 passports are so expensive!!! we could do cafe mickey with the cost of my baby girls first one and my renewal!!:rotfl2:

UK has different rules as we are part of the EU. If a UK person travels to the US & Canada we have to have 6 months left from day of return, its to do with visa waivers and agreements with the countries:)

Actually this is only a recomendation. I travelled to California in December last yr with only 5 mths left on my passport and had no problems getting into the US or out again -I had checked and double checked various sites before hand and they all stated it must be valid for the length of trip but does not need the extra 6 mths on it

Thanks, I didn't realise this :)

Though DD's passport was only 2-week short from the recommended 6-month period, I would not want to take the risk since we will be visiting Vienna, Salzburg, Prague and Barcelona before our DCL Med cruise. If at any point she is denied entry, what am I going to do? $37 for her passport is just a small fraction of the cost of the entire trip. The peace of mind is priceless. I was so relieved after I renewed her passport. No more wondering or sleepless nights!!

Everyone has different threshold for risks and mine is kind of low! Lol!!

Thanks for all the info and updates! Have fun planning!!
