Passport Question???

I was wondering if anyone could answer this question. We have decided to get our passports even though they say we won't need them until June but I want everything to go smooth for our first flight. If I fill out all the forms and get everything signed then bring them down to the office do I have to bring the kids and husband with me? Or can I do this without them. I don't want to pull them out of school or my husband miss work for this. Any input would be great. Thanks

I do believe that you can take all the forms in and start the process. I didn't take our kids with us when we got theirs. I'm pretty sure your husband doesn't need to be with you either. Mine was but he had a day off work.

Only one of you needs to go in. Just make sure you have your passport photos, the forms filled in and signed and of course your credit card!

I took them in for Husband and son..had to take their ID with me as they were both adults.

They would have to go in if they needed express or urgent service. If it is regular 10 days, then they don't have to go. If though, you are taking in the applications and one of the applicant's doesn't live with you, they would have to go into the office to pick it up and their is an additional fee for pick up.

I did rush service and when I went to pick it up, it required my signature. I think you can do step one without them but not the final step -unless they are being mailed to you I guess.

The June 1st 2009 date is for cross border travel by land or sea. A passport is already required if you are flying IN or OUT of the U.S.

My husband went into our local EI office and dropped ours off, mine, 3 ds's and his. We did not go with him. and I believe they are sending ours bak in the mail.

And yes you need passports to fly.
