passholder only???? oh no

For the most part Disney is only open until 9:00 that time of year too (Animal Kingdom closes at 8:30 even). It's lower season so the hours are shorter than mid-summer. We will be at Universal that weekend too, but there for parts of 3-4 days (Friday afternoon to Monday morning) and a seasonal pass cost the same as 3 days, so I bought that and was pretty stoked to see recently that it means extra hours for us then with this event, plus a 10% restaurant discount as part of the passholder appreciation days.
10%? I gotta check that out. we already bought the UT tickets and have to wait to upgrade when we are there! I am getting excited

Tell us the conflicting info and we'll try to straighten it out for you.
Ihave sorted that out... some people said to not convert to seasonal pass until last day? but apparently that is only if you are there during a black out day...I should be good...

I see that all passholders have EE the dates I am going. I originally booked to stay onsite at CB so I could have that privilege. With the opening of EE to more people can I expect larger crowds or now a disadvantage to EE :( ? Since we have the basic AP I'm contemplating looking to stay elsewhere if it's cheaper.
what is EE?

I agree with PP - during the time of year we go, the park closing times are often 6-7pm. An 8pm close wouldn't worry me much and shouldn't take away all that much time. I personally wouldn't bother upgrading to an AP JUST for this purpose, unless you can take advantage of the AP resort rates or plan to use them again within a year.

They are doing a special showing of the new nighttime show "Cinematic Celebration" for the passholder event, if you don't have another night to see it, it may be worth it for that. I saw the show again a few days ago and it really is pretty good, I noticed a bunch of things I didn't the first time around. You absolutely want to view it from the dedicated area in the "Central Park" section.

Plus Diagon Alley at night is really nice.

BTW since the new nighttime show started hours probably will start moving to being mostly the same for both parks (except buyout/event or horror nights).

How early do you recommend showing up for the cinematic celebration?

Do you think hours would increase for IOA with this? For example both parks close at 9 on Thurs Sept 6th, but on a Fri the hours are 7 at IOA and 6 at US (for the Faith nights). Obviously the US hours make sense, but I would think IOA would stay open at least til 9 or later to compensate?

Not sure. When HHN is happening, they still close IOA at 9 or earlier. I don't think they don't extend hours at IOA, just because they close the Studios at 5 to clear out guests to open at 6 for HHN.

Gotcha, it looks like it has been updated now. I just thought it was weird that IOA and US both closed at 9p that whole week leading up to Friday and after the US faith event except that Friday. US closing at 6 for the event made perfect sense, but IOA closing early too that night confused me. IOA shows closing at 9pm now :)

Hmm now its back to showing IOA closing at 7pm again. Hopefully it is just a glitch
