95% of the time I am happily dining solo - and when making my 60 day ADRs began to wonder if requesting a party of 1 puts me at a disadvantage (?) and following that - if I put the reservation for 2 and only 1 of me showed up - are there any issues with that? I've made reservations for larger parties with no issue and had 1 or 2 people not there - never a problem - but I wonder if it's different with just 1 (can't imagine it would be, but just in case)

I do this all the time. Some locations have a minimum of 2 and if you only reserve with one you will never see an availability. Now that you check-in on your phone 15 minutes prior, you just put in one at that point and it is not a problem.
